Airspace violated over Obama's Chicago home

The North American Air Defense Command scrambled a pair of F-16 fighter jets Sunday afternoon over Chicago when a Cessna 150 aircraft violated a temporary restricted flight zone near the residence of President Obama.

The aircraft was intercepted and instructed to land at Lewis University Airport in Romeoville, Illinois, where it was met by local authorities, Maj. Mike Humphrey of NORAD said.  No other details were immediately available.

Romeoville is located about 25 miles southwest of downtown Chicago. The temporary restricted flight area is a standard procedure whenever the president is in an area.  The first family is in Chicago for the Memorial Day
weekend. The Obamas are scheduled to return to Washington on Monday evening.

Bama-Boy is not legally president, so why does it matter?

His father was not a US citizen, thus he is not a "natural born" citizen. Even *he* admits that his father was not a US citizen.

I bet all of you did not know it cost about $25, 000 to scramble those jet's. I hope it was worth it to all of you 🙁

All the pilot has to do is claim that he is an illegal immigrant and didn’t understand English and all will be forgiven.

Really Darron?...back to that (not much of a) point, thought we flogged that dead horse long ago? C'mon give the guy (Obama) a break. Whether you voted for Obama or not he's your president too...Too late to change that. Obama was the best of a bad bunch in a very rotten game (politics)....Lots of Americans want him out, they should be careful what they wish for...Jeb's still lurking! On the no fly...well it was an inconvenience but I don't think Obama makes these decisions. On the Arlington issue, he attended and gave praise to the fallen US soldiers in thier resting place...DC may be the capital but everyone in America should honour all those fallen heros no matter if they are in Arlington or on the moon. The BP oil issue could make or break Obama...I will judge him on this over the next twelve months or so...Rome was not built in a day. Take care.

The BP issue will make or break Obama. Funny. Did he made the oil spill? No! Is a private business ploblem. Obama can only send federal government assistance; Notihing less, nothing more. And btw, a one term Obama would be fine, because it is an unthankful job. You can do your best and work night and day, eventhouhg no one will say that. Thats why all living presidents hava secret service protection there whole live.

Jeb would get my vote,as a past Fla. resident and still own a house there i saw first hand what a hand own govenor he was. Maybe 3's a charm, it would be a hell of alot better than what we're stuck with now.

Yes the pilot of that Cessna 150 was wrong. Likely a wayward student but in either case he/she will pay for this misdeed unless of course that person is an illegal from acrosss the Southern border of this country. See, even our own government picks and choses which laws are worth abiding by. This makes me ask, what's wrong with breaking the law. I dont like that law so I will not abid by it. That should make that law null and void. Right?

NORAD doing there JOB? lol god, there are some pretty ignorant people in here who will believe anything they hear and see in the news. Now, look at 9/11, did NORAD do there job? lol hell no. A plane hit the pentagon for crying out loud. And that is supposed to be one of the most heavily guarded and watched buildings in the world (supposedly).

And all this talk about the wonderful Obama. lol and a violation of airspace over Illinois where he was. Why in the hell is he there? Or is everyone just too ignorant to realize we have a environmental catastrophe that just might threaten millions, threaten our ecological system, threaten the fish and seafood market, and god forbid what might happen if another Katrina was to hit. as we speak, N. Korea is lighting a very big fire, got more issues in Iran. And he decides to pull a Bush and take a vacation, a frackin vacation? what do you think life will be like here in a few years if this oil spill isnt resolved immediately? You dont think your precious way of existing isnt gonna be affected do you?

Now, He obviously wanted this position, now he should step up to the plate and act somewhat like a presidential leader, rather than taking time for photo-ops, and speeches that don't deliver.
Sure, its a nice day to be "patiorit (if you can even truely define what that means. p.s. look up the revolutionary war to get a clue)" and fly your flag for a day to show some sort of temporary pride. But, if you were so all American, shouldn't you worry about whats happening to this crumbling country rather than backing a president that vowed "change". And look at the change that happened, is this what you voted for? is this the "change" you wanted, that you expected??? He has done no better than the other sorry excuses that got put in the oval office since JFK.

Just my opinion. If he can't spend more than two hours on the gulf coast talking to the real people( not the ones staged by BP) go out and see it ,smell it , touch it. I frankly don't give a damn where he spends the holiday. Yes it is memorial day, but he doesn't give a rats ass about the living so why should he care about our fallen who have given their lives to protect our shores. I n truth he really isn't much of a president. More of an actor playing a role. If you don't like my oppinion, just take a walk on the beach and know that just a few miles off shore, is the death of a region.

I'm quite surprised that despite all the pilot representation on here, and all the discussion of the possibility this was a student pilot, they all failed to mention that Chicago's Class B airspace is closed to student pilots.

Most of Class B airspace has a floor under which students can fly. If anyone is flying in Class B airspace, they should be on the radio with ATC. Bottom line is this was no threat to anyone and a waste of taxpayer money. Those who don't speak up against the taking of rights from a minority (pilots) will soon hope they did because boats are next, and cars right after that. We are headed toward lockdowns of all movement around presidents and others tagged as VIPs.
