Turkey recalls Israeli ambassador, cancels exercises

Turkey has recalled its Israeli ambassador after 10 people were killed in a skirmish with the Israeli military while attempting to defy an Israeli blockade and deliver aid to Gaza, Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said.

In addition, Turkey has canceled three military exercises scheduled with the Israeli military and called home the Turkish youth national football team.

Turkey is demanding the security of all the members of the flotilla, some of whom came from a Turkish organization. Turkey's prime minister was returning from Chile, and the chief of the Turkish military is cutting short a trip to Egypt.

Arinc said the operation "will leave a bloody stain on the history of humanity."

"Israeli coffin"? "Innocent civilians"? What drugs are you people taking? Israel has always been a scapegoat for the "world opinion and condemnation", what's new there? They are just trying to protect themselves in a very unfriendly neighborhood. Imagine Mexican "freedom flotillas" trying to reach the US shores – would US "allow free passage" to them? Of course not, it would board the ships and kick the crap out of the people. Imagine Iran intercepting US "freedom flotilla" in the Straight of Hormuz – they'd probably chopped the heads of the "innocent civilians". So stop the bigotry and nonsense against Israel, and simply state that you are an Anti-semite. I strongly support Israeli's actions, and wish they would be less civil and more aggressive with the bearded "freedom sailors", and would start shooting first and ask questions later. I seriously enjoyed how Russians (yes, I grew up there) freed their ship from Somali pirates recently, and "let them go" (in sinking boats) back to their creators. I wish Israel would do the same.

And by the way, I wish Turkey would go out of "freedom flotilla" provocation business and do what they do best – produce low fat low sodium pre-sliced turkey bologna.

Before writing any comments you need to know the real facts about all this stuff going on. Firat of all, that IHD, (the organization who sends the ships) is fundamentalist Islamic groups' organization. Nobody knows where they get money from. So it is not an innocent help as you think. Evrything seems to be arranged carefully and provocative. The protest demonstartions going on in turkey also are part of these Islamist groups' arrangements. Unfortunately since we have Islamist politicians right now who are governign Turkey, they are supporting these Islamist groups as much as they can. Educated Turkish people knows the facts, they are aware of what is going on and we do not support any provocative events like this. So please aware of the fact that all the scenario that has been playing by some is a carefully arranged event. I hope things won't get worse.

Did Israel first shoot at the people on this boat? Are these boats owned by terrorism sponsors. If they are owned by people that are sponsoring terrorism and they were coming anywhere close to your country would you hope they would be checked out very well even if they were carrying food, medicine and humanitarian effort items. What someone is transporting has nothing to do with their motis operandi. We need to dig deeper than listening to the news but rather look at how the whole activity transpired before blaming anyone. I believe that Israel will be condemmed by the world and will continue to stand strong against an enemy that wants to destroy them forever. They will not be defeated by barbarism or anything else. The one true God will carry them thru this situation and prepare them for what is to come.

Sir Paul McCartney performs in a tribute concert at the White House as he picks up an award from President Obama. (BBC "Paul McCartney plays to Obamas at White House concert" – June 3, 2010).

Is the deafening global outcry against Israel's continued barbaric ways drowned by McCartney's lively performance? Is that why the US is again turning a blind eye to this injustice and inhumanity? or is it because the US has yet again created a monster it cannot slay? The US supported and trained the Taleban, now it cannot eradicate it. is the US powerless against a rogue, nuclear Israel?

I am calling the White seriously. Anyone (Jew, Muslim, Christian or other) that feels that the US needs to stop Israel from suckling at its teat, and hold Israel accountable in an unbiased and just manner, should do so too. Call 202.456.1111

Considering the history of the Jewish people, Israel of all countries should know better than to conduct itself in this manner. Regardless of what perceived domestic threats Israel faces from Muslim extremists, walling-off an ethnic minority and depriving them of even the most basic goods is not a legitimate act of self-defense; it is a crime against humanity.

Gaza is the Warsaw Ghetto of the 21st century. Don't let it become the sight of another Holocaust.

If the IDF is so adept at self-defense, then Israel ought to be able to "go it alone" without any further financial interactions from the greater global community. Planet-wide boycotts of South Africa's apartheid government did not destroy South Africa; it merely removed a hate-based regime from power.

It's time for this "blockade" to become a two-way street....

Turkey is one strong friend to Israel in the Middle East, at ileast it was. It is unfortunate to see the reaction of the Israeli PM, he should be showing remorse and sorrow, yet he was arrogant and defiant. Mr. Prime Minster you just turned liberal Muslims into extremists.

Well its sad that one of the Israel alleys is acting like this....but I guess the muslim ties are stronger than the political ones...if Turkey were really an alley they would've not let this ships go ahead with what they did....but this happenes all times jews have learned the hard way that they stand alone, so they have to do whatever is their power to protect themselves....and keep doint it so for all the "humanitarian activists! out there keep this in mind ISrael will not stab by and let people destroy them...either by war or PR like today....stay strong IDF....!!!!

    Dear friend,
I understand you love your country and nothing wrong with that. I just want give some clarification relationship between Turks and Israel. Turkiye was one of the first countries to accept Israeli state back in 1960s. That was not the first. Back in Ottoman time many times Ottoman Empire found solutions to suffering Jewish people’s problems. These days so many people are suffering due to disasters and they need help. However Gaza suffering is manmade disaster and it is very unfortunate. These suffering people are not given any tools to survive just because they elect wrong party. Because of that I do not think Gaza blockade fair. When we look back to history, some government had to power to segregate some nations and put them in the camps and suffered them to death just like today’s Gaza example. These types of acts happened time to time in peace and war time. We can all agree that this type of politics and ideas are not healthy for humanity and the benefits of these types of accts are very short. Time will pass and power may change hand, end of the day we stock with what we have done. At that time I like to be remembered as the one who try to find solutions to the problems.
