Holder: 2,200 arrested, 74.1 tons seized in drug probe

Attorney General Eric Holder announced the arrest Thursday of more than 2,200 individuals on narcotics-related charges in the United States and the seizure of more than 74.1 tons of illegal drugs in a 22-month probe called Projective Deliverance.

Project Deliverance targeted the transportation infrastructure of Mexican drug trafficking organizations in the United States, especially along the Southwest border.

I am curious to know how many of the suspects are illegal aliens.

Stress is sadly here to stay, and so is one of the best means available for dealing with it: marijuana. That procuring the stuff requires dealing with illegal sources is the real problem, NOT the stuff itself; can't we come to terms with that?

With the depth of reporting on the story, I wonder if there's any substance to it at all? And since the Feds say 10% gets captured and 90% gets through, that means there's 666.9 tons got through. They're good at shooting flies with a .50 cal.

From a Economical view the U.S. is just making the drug world more money. Drugs are inelastic meaning no matter what price you put on drugs it will still sell because of the demand is so high. The U.S. is going to decrease the supply which will make the demand go higher and in the end make the drug lords more money. THE ONLY WAY IS TO LEGALIZE smaller drugs such as marijuana and tax it, that way our economy is making more money and the drug lords will suffer. I THOUGHT THE US WAS SMARTER THAN THIS BUT THEN AGAIN OUR LEGAL SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE REINVENTED AGAIN.

What a country....the media and our government focus on crimes by individuals while BP, Goldman Sachs, Boeing, Wal Mart, and our great mega corporations commit crimes of unimaginable proportions and get away with it.

Holder...is and extension of Obama....and Obama is an extension of Bush.

Then no more drug lords cash in on weed.

Weed is the number 1 drug of choice by almost everyone; at least in Canada.

Therefor, you take away their number 1 source of income.

    Win win...

Man, you young people out there are a mess. Look, lets use some common sense– some one do an investigative report on the non-profit org. we have in this country. Want to save money? Do away with those groups, all they are is privateers using money the fed gave them to support some cause or another, then go back and lobby for more money. Short of some fairly reputable charity groups out there, the non profit corps are the scam of our society. I know, because I am about to open one... with all good intent of course.

First of all, Mexicans are the most hard working people of this country and they don't mind taking jobs that you think you're too good to work for. They will get paid lett and work twice as hard better than a lazy bum like you that cannot appreciate good honest work. The most criminals that I have ever seen are american.. serial killers, meth dealers/makers all american!! American supply the boats/ airplanes for that stuff to come here, they don't mind taking a cut of it either! Minorities have been taking the heat for so much crap that american seem to think they may be good at hiding and that is only because you're stupid asses think we don't see, but we see EVERYTHING!! That is why our president is BLACK>. BETTER LET ALL COLORS KNOW!! We are no longer settling for your ignorant nonsense, and if you're unemployed get a job a Mc donalds or cleaning rooms.. its' a job isnt' it? With all your GREED and IGNORANCE it's no wonder why you are where you are.. at least Mexicans/Minoriteis have value and prvide us with the best service they could ever give. I honor them because they work their asses off 2/3 jobs if needs to take care of their families. they send money back home where they are less fortunate where they have NO health insurance.. at all.. why must you be so ugly to sit there and critize another culture without knowing anything about them. You won't see them in court fighting to pay child support cause they take care of theirs. They're not out killing anyone, or destroying anyones' lives by working hard. They deserve it just as much as any other HUMAN BEING!! When you stop looking at them as a race and look at them as a HUMAN!! You'd be less inclined to think such nasty thoughts as you do..I don't mind paying tax dollars to help out the less unforunate.. why do you? They don't take anything away from you at all.. You're probably intimidated by them because you know you're worth is lower than thiers and you're just mad because they can succeed in life stuggling and you can't because you don't know how youre much to blinded by greed and pride and that is a SAD reality to face!! Isn't it?? OBAMA,, OBAMA EVERYWHERE!!

Off your meds again, huh? Your comment is racist and just plain dumb. According to you no illegal has ever committed a crime in this country....well, guess what? The fact that people are here illegally is a crime. I

19 billion per year funding and after how many years – they get 2,200? So efficient. Prohibition didnt work for alcohol and has proven a miserable failure for all other drugs. Instead of legalizing and taxing to fund public needs, we lock up non violent criminals so ginormous corporations can reap huge profits. Nice.

2200 arrests, would be a drop in the bucket, compared to the number of drug cartel agents there actually are, in the US. If that's the best they can do, it's going to be really hard to stop the flow.

Spacee has the right idea. One response was that the person doesn't use weed before work or driving. MOST people don't drink then either but we still have a DUI problem! If everyone acted rationally by not driving stoned there would be less of a problem with legalization but that is not going to happen. Being responsible is the key and there are too many who cannot act that way.

Sorry, but people can get the stuff anyway, whether or not they are driving on it. Take away the gang profit and the gangs will die; isn't that what we want? Darwin takes care of junkies pretty quick.
