Huckaby sentenced to life in prison without parole

Melissa Huckaby, convicted of killing an 8-year-old girl last year, was sentenced to life in prison without parole on Monday in a California court.

Huckaby, who last month pleaded guilty to the slaying, told the court that Cantu did not suffer and insisted that she did not sexually molest the girl, according to CNN affiliate KCRA.

KCRA also reported that Huckaby apologized to members of Cantu's family, Huckaby's own relatives (including her daughter) and told Cantu's mother she couldn't give a reason for why she killed the girl.

Wow, look at the change in her appearance since she's been in custody. What are they feeding her? She should be on rations of bread and water – that's it. She doesn't deserve food. RIP little angel.

Why waste the tax dollars? She took away the life of a little girl- her last memories before dying were filled with horror. Death penalty for this animal.

Her name is Sandra Cantu. It was included in all the reports when she was missing. Not sure why they wouldn't include it now.
It was obvious all along this freak did it. I guess the reason she can't say why is just too disturbing. Because of drugging and raping her daughter's 8 year old friend. Poor little girl must have known what happened to her, and this POS could not let her live to repeat it.

Thank goodness she'll spend the rest of her natural life locked up. (I cannot imagine she'd survive 50 years in prison.)

You know when she goes into that prison and people find out what she has done they will take care of her. It is a shame that the "real" government is nothing but convicts. She should FRY!

Life in prison without parol is nothing compared to her judgement when she stands before Sandra's maker, the Lord
and accounts for what she did to this little one. May she forever every minute of every day recount what she did to not only Sandra but to her family and may she live in the misery of that realization. I pray that Tracy continues to support this little girl's family, helps in her sister's education and always uplifts them in prayer. May we never forget what happened and continue to support this family in their loss.

She doesn't understand the reason why she did this? She is a pedophile. THAT is the reason. To outright deny what she did in an attempt to mitigate her actions to the courtroom is beyond dastardly.

I'm glad you all think that you know what God thinks and you have the right to pass judgement on one person involved in this horrific crime who states she does not know why she did that and apparently does not have a full memory of the events. Two different pharmaceuticals are known to have been prescribed to Huckaby at this time, benzos and aprazolam. There is probably a much longer list. All of these drugs given to her by doctors on referral by the court ordered mental health treatment she was receiving for shoplifting. And the husband who never paid a dime in child support, leaving her in poverty. Why didn't they lock him up when they found him instead of put him on TV to talk about her problems? I have great faith in God that he is much more intelligent than the trash posters here. He would say Hmmmm..... you got the trigger, now let's go after the rest of the gun. There are many more people in this scenerio that should be in lock down forever than just one.

I've read through these name calling posts, filled with violent revenge, "monster" . How quickly people forget. Melissa Huckaby was once a little girl too, just like all of us. Innocent and kind. Then she met up with a man who abandoned her and her little girl and never paid child support. Where were the police all those years? Not getting justice for Melissa and her daughter. Then she met up with the mental health system and the pharmaceutical industry. Who is regulating the dispensing of these drugs? Where were the police? I know that the world will treat you the way you treat others, so please keep posting and I will relish in knowing that world serves up justice. It may be coming to your life soon.
