World update: Aid begins arriving in Kyrgyzstan

An update from London on some of the international stories we expect to develop on Wednesday:

Kyrgyzstan aid - The first United Nations' aid plane has arrived in Uzbekistan to help the thousands of people who have fled ethnic clashes in neighboring Kyrgyzstan, U.N. officials say.

Obama and BP - President Obama will have his showdown on Wednesday with BP top executives and says he will tell the company it must pick up the tab for the massive Gulf Coast oil spill.

French retirement - France will raise the retirement age from 60 to 62 as part of efforts to wipe out the country's growing deficit, Labor Minister Eric Woerth has announced.

Indonesia quakes - At least two people were killed after four earthquakes struck within an hour near the northern coast of Papua, Indonesia, midday Wednesday, authorities said. A fifth and sixth quake hit the region a few hours later.

Van der Sloot inquiry - Aruban and Peruvian authorities have agreed to "help each other" in the murder investigation of Stephany Flores - in which Joran Van der Sloot is the prime suspect, an Aruban government spokesman says.

Mexico shootout - Fifteen people have been killed in a shootout with soldiers in the Mexican tourist town of Taxco, the national defense secretary says.
