[Updated at 10:01a.m.] Deadly tornadoes killed at least three people Thursday in Minnesota, according to Doug Neville, the state's public safety spokesman.
[Posted at 9:46 a.m.] Deadly tornadoes touched down Thursday in Minnesota, killing at least two people, police said.
Margi Schuke, 70, died when her house in Almora was destroyed by a tornado, said Otter Tail County spokesman David Hauser.
He said six homes were destroyed and 35 homes damaged in the western Minnesota county. Large areas were without electricity.
Another woman died when a tornado hit her home in southern Freeborn County, said Sheriff Mark Harig.
CNN-affiliate KARE said at least one of the tornadoes caused widespread damage, ripping roofs off of a high school, a bus garage and apartment complexes.
