BP stopped recovering oil gushing into the Gulf of Mexico on Friday night because of a problem aboard the drilling ship Discover Enterprise, said Ayla Kelley, spokesperson for the Deepwater Horizon Command Center. Oil collection stopped for 10 hours, resuming at 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

Does anyone remember the outrage at the Republican administration for the so called no bid contracts that were given to Halliburton and other contractors to stop the leaks and the fires in Iraq and the Arabian Gulf????? Well,….. they stopped the leaks and put out the fires in record time. To bad Obummer can’t be as resourceful as a Bush! Take that and shove it up your liberal B………….
With the serousness of this oil leak why is it that BP has not considered back up for pumps, oil storage container ships, or spares of every discription. There is no excuse of this stopage in oil recovery. I am sure there will be other issues to be delt with, so please BP show me and every one else that your middle management engineers have a handle on and grasp on any future event. It will not go away, Upper management is still wandering around with their heads chopped off.
because they have no idea what they're doing
The enemy of my enemy is my friend. In a two party system you are without friends. Does that explain why nothing ever gets done in Washington?
IT'S OBAMA'S FAULT! BLAME OBAMA!!!!
So much oil has been spilled anyway, another 20,000 barrels into the Gulf is a drop in the bucket.
If anyone out there would like to listen I think i figured out 2 different ways they could cap the well and no more would leak out. then redrill the well and get the oil that way, but it will stop it from leaking into the ocean. the solution is so simple that everyone has over looked it.
BP has a website for such ideas...
If BP had spent as much time trying to plug this well instead of trying to capture the oil from it, it would have been plugged by now. Congrats BP, on destroying the Gulf of Mexico. What's next, the Atlantic ocean?
why not post your ideas, are they a secret? maybe someone with half a brain will read them. Unless you have Obama's cell phone #, you might as well post it here.
ok, I want to know why CNN is not covering the news that oil and gas are now leaking from the ocean floor surrounding the original well leak, and the news that the entire ceiling of this oil "pocket" could cave in, virtually filling the entire gulf with oil and beginning a catastrophic event? Was this a lie from the scientists reporting it? If this is true, it doesn't matter whose fault it is, or what yacht the Brits are on today, or whether Obama is wearing a suit or just a shirt. We can all just totally kiss America goodbye if this is true. Also, why hasn't anymore been reported on using a very small scale nuclear device to melt this underground leak, therefore preventing a cave in, or is the "pocket" too big to consider this anymore. Last, why is CNN not covering the scientific news that way way underground, ALL of these "pockets" that are being drilled in the Gulf are connected, and therefore there really is a reason to think that this whole mess is much, much much bigger than anyone wants the public to know.
amazing how many stoppages occur now that they put sensors to measure the flow... eh
Well then maybe you can tell BP how to do it right.
Greg is right. The most effective way to protest is to drive less, carpool, or drive a more fuel efficient vehicle. The problem is that we consume over 20% of the world's oil and produce less than 2%. We can't drill enough to nudge that 2% figure up more than a fraction of a percent, so the only way to get things closer to being in balance is to reduce the 20% demand number.
@ CNN: It's NOT a "spill". It's a "blowout". Exxon Valdez was a "spill". This is a "blowout". Please use the correct terminology, so as not to make CNN appear ignorant!!

looks like Rick and Greg either work for the oil company or are speculators. because if the boycott thing works they will take another hard hit in their schemes. stopoilspeculation.com is one of the major causes of the current price reductions we are all seeing but you will notice the media does not want to report that the american people have achieved a victorywith them. look at their site and you will see.
if the rupture pipe is as i saw it,s picture on cnn news, i can give them a idea how to stop it, provideing it is the well pipe that is leaking and not the ocean floor, perhaps they could use the same to cement the ocean floor, if BP and the US goverment is interested , they can locate me by e mail through this comment, send me a drawing of the drilled cut of well pipe, i will add a drawing to it and return it to them, please do not send e mails requesting news stories, they will not be entertained,
thank god the navy secretary is over seeing the clean up cause the bp spokesmen thad allen has about much of a clue as haward did on capital hill..... ahead of schedual ha....
