Iran ready to resume nuclear talks in August, president says

Iran is prepared to resume talks over its nuclear program but will wait until late August as punishment for recently imposed U.N. sanctions, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Monday.

The outcome of the talks will depend on whether Western powers hold Israel to the same standards over its nuclear program, Ahmadinejad said at a news conference.

"Western countries have no problems with Israel's nuclear bombs," Ahmadinejad said.

The United Nations Security Council imposed additional sanctions on Iran in early June, expanding an arms embargo and tightening restrictions on financial and shipping enterprises related to "proliferation-sensitive activities."

The 12-2 vote with one abstention came after the United States and other Security Council members expressed their concern over Iran's lack of compliance with previous U.N. resolutions on ensuring the peaceful nature of the nation's nuclear program.

The resolution on further sanctions was introduced by France, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States. Brazil and Turkey voted against the measure and Lebanon abstained.

The United States pressured some nations to vote against Iran, Ahmadinejad said at Monday's news conference.

The Security Council also asked the U.N. secretary-general to create a panel of experts to monitor implementation of the sanctions.

Iran has disavowed any intentions of developing nuclear weapons and says its program is for peaceful purposes.

"Western countries should put their bullying policies aside," Ahmadinejad said Monday.

The Iranian president questioned the motives of the United States and others who want negotiations. And he discounted that concerns over Iran's nuclear ambitions are the sole reason for the sanctions.

"They would have found another pretext if it wasn't for the nuclear pretext," he said.

Iranian government are all liars so whatever they say cannot be trusted. Their history is only violence. They are stubborn and stiffnecked and won't even show respect to the international community who clearly shows they don't trust Iran. Israel has never done anything but defend themselves. The Arabs are all in agreement that Israel must be destroyed. Just like the Muslims want to evangelize the world into a Muslim world, so also they want to rid the world of all who don't believe in Allah. There is no way to reason with religious zealots. Liars cannot be trusted with nuclear bombs.

Congratulations on Turkey's decision to close ALL Turkish Airspace to Israel. Turkey would do well to purchase several Russian made S-300 anti-aircraft missile batterys for protecting it's country in case Israel decides to retaliate against a NATO country again.

Attacking a NATO flagged ship in International Waters is in International Law and NATO treaty's the same thing as an attack upon the very country of that ship's flag, namely Turkey which is a NATO member. The NATO treaty calls upon all other NATO countrys to hold Israel fully accountable for its attack upon a NATO member.

Turkey SHOULD place NATO on notice that any Turkish airspace overflights by Israeli Military Jets would be seen as an attack upon a sovereign NATO country and by the NATO treaty require that all NATO country's immediately deal with Israel.

Turkey should also warn America that any further killings of Turkish civilians by Israel and Turkey will close it's airspace to America and it's borders to the US Military convoys carrying war supplys to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Americans wanting a swift end to the Afghanistan occupation should implore the government of Kyrgyzstan to close it's airbase to America's refueling tanker fleet used to refuel fighter jets over Afghanistan.
