Van der Sloot files appeal in Peru

Joran van der Sloot's attorney on Wednesday filed an appeal to a ruling that upheld his confession and detention in the death of a Peruvian woman, his attorney said.

Attorney Maximo Altez filed the appeal in the morning, he said.

Ricardo Flores, the father of murder victim Stephany Flores, was also expected to appear before a judge Wednesday to give a formal statement, family members told CNN.

Van der Sloot earlier this month refused an opportunity to give the judge a statement.

Flores will meet Judge Carlos Morales Cordova in Lima, Peru.

As the presiding judge, Morales has the duty to be the chief fact-finder, legal experts told CNN. Morales is getting statements from other potential witnesses, as well.

For his part, van der Sloot is trying to slow down the legal process by appealing his incarceration and trying to nullify a confession he gave.

One judge already denied his claim, but van der Sloot's attorney said his client will fight all the way to the Peruvian Supreme Court and international courts, if necessary. Wednesday's appeal was the first step.

CNN's Jean Casarez contributed to this report.

This is just toooo funny. How someone that thinks he is smarter than the world, can be soooo stupid. VDS may have been a 'super star' amoung the corrupt in Aruba but Aruba is just a little bleep on the map of the world.

This guy is a rich, jet setting brat, who truely believes that laws don't apply to him, because that is the way Mommy and Daddy raised him. No conscience, no morals, no remorse. Just move the dead body out of the way and go on to the next party. In the same detached fashion most of us would go to McDonalds. I believe the correct term is socio-path.

Actually, it is psychopath, and in addition, a serial killer. A monster.

This fellow truly is a sociopath. Too bad all the countries in the world couldn't agree to have a special law that applies to freaks such as Joran. Get rid of him as soon as you have proof - no appeals, no hiding in other countries, no chance to repeat his horrendous crimes.

Hey, Van Der Waste: you file your Appeals, you punk. You're not in America or in the Dutch courts, you punk. Your appeals WILL be denied. You're in Hell. Enjoy your stay until you're in the real one. One can only hope they put you in the general population sooner than later! Waste like you from another country murdering a Peruvian? My guess is that within sixty seconds of entering that yard you'll be skewered. Have a slow death you piece of excrement.

I hope he dies the cowardly death . A lifetime of misery, fear, and abuse in awful prisons and conditions. His victims families should have the pleasure of seeing him suffer a long time. He doesn't deserve a quick or merciful death.

JDS is a certifiable serial killer that needs to be put down. He killed Natalie Holloway, and he killed Stephanie Flores and broke her neck with his bare hands. I hope and pray that he will find real justice in Peru. My cousin was tortured and killed a few years ago by another serial killer. He killed her 6 weeks after he was released from prison for "tampering with evidence" because the jury did not find him guilty of the first (that we know about) victim, a Native American woman. Finally he confessed to both to avoid the death penalty. They should not have cut the deal with him. Hopefully in Peru, another monster can be stopped before he kills again, and only one sentence can guarantee that.

I know the justice system having worked within it. Not everything is fair. In some of these South American countries it is not unusual for seriel killers to work the system better than they do here. IF he is a seriel killer he's not done yet. If you wqnt to know our system of law enforcement and justice system read the book about the Green River Strangler or the BTK Killer you'll come face to face with the REAL system. In a large metro area there are hundreds of seriel predators at various stages of dormancy and activity. When you've finished the above read The Communist Manifesto followed by the Soanish Inquisition and you'll be well on your way.

I like the one about the interview deal for a cool million. Heck, I could do that – I could lie for him , which is all he would do for said interview.......and collect the $$$'s myself. I hope he NEVER gets out of where he is. And peace to the grief of the families whose daughters he killed and lives he has destroyed. I think it would be true justice to let Juran read all the posts about how everybody thinks how Innocent he is...Yeah..........

Whoever gives that piece of human trash money to hear lies, is not in their right mind. I mean think about it, he lies about every thing. That would make the news reporter look dumb. The only reason he wants to get that money is to be able to pay the other inmates to leave him alone. I say leave him broke, So the Peruvien prisoners can do what they do best,Shank him .
