Reports: LeBron heading for the Heat

If media reports are right LeBron James may not be playing against Dwayne Wade -- but with him instead.

Published reports say LeBron James is planning to join the Miami Heat.

Newsday's Alan Hahn tweeted the news just after midnight.

ESPN followed Hahn's report with its own, also saying James is heading for Miami to join fellow stars Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

If the reports are accurate, the Heat will have hit the jackpot in the most frenzied talent chase in NBA history, landing the three top free agents.Things could still change of course. Sports Illustrated's Ian Thomsen doesn't believe the reports and thinks James will return to Cleveland.

Eatocracy blog: Dear LeBron, come for the hoops, stay for the grub

Wherever he decides to play, Us Magazine says LeBron has a big party planned in South Beach this weekend.

Since he knows his new deal will pay him anywhere from about $96 to 125 million LeBron can afford the South Beach soiree' and a new place to live. CNNMoney shows us there are no shortage of housing options in his price range.

James is unlikely to confirm or deny any of this today since he's planning to announce his decision in a prime-time special on ESPN tonight.

a bunch of ppl here talk about loyalty. think of it this way, if you are offered another position with better pay would you take it if it benefits you and your family? or will you stay where you are because of loyalty? in his case money is not the issue... if it was he would've stayed in Cleveland. if someone one offered you the opportunity to win rings... would you go or would you stay because of loyalty?

    • Always a bridesmaid, never a bride..

Hey, LJ (if he leaves) will be the one with egg on the face. I talk abt loyality because after the first 10 million per year money really wouldn't matter. Jordan could have gone ANYWHERE. A true baller is one who can stay put and make things happen no matter where he is. This guy is just greedy. It doesn't have anything to do with family either last I checked they where all doing just fine. It is not "in stone" that LeBron will win anywhere. Heaven forbid he gets injured..Last I checked Cleveland did nothing to jade King James. They didn't give him grief and they brought SHAQ to the Club (and still didn't win). It was King James that is saying it is not him it is somebody elses fault for not winning the big matches. Bullshiz, this guy could be a lemon. Always a bridesmaid never a bride.

so if you are offered a new position with better pay you wouldn't move because of loyalty? true, money in this case isn't an obstacle... but if a team came to you and offered you the chance to win championships you wouldn't move because of loyalty? your theory is flawed. even you don't believe that yourself

Do anyone think that ESPN will create this hooplah, in prime time, just to report that Lebron James is staying in Cleveland?
I don't think so. The New York Knicks have just signed Stoudemire, and is just awaiting James' signature to join in. If he truly aspires to play for the biggest stage in the world, New York is the place. And I am from L.A.

Will there be a church choir behind Lebron singing Alleluia, the new Messiah has risen?
Did he an his brother Brett Favre go to the same school of humility?
Will we be hearing from Lebron in the third person from now on? As in:
Lebron thinks the oil spill will correct itself.
Lebron will lift the economy back on its feet by all the money he is circulating.
Lebron for President? I'm God now of the NBA. Why not the country?

OK.... Can we stop with the 'King James' BS?? Win a championship and then we can talk about it, MAYBE.
Until he wins a ring he is OVER-RATED. There are at least 5 players I would rather have instead of LJ, including Kobe.

I have no dog in this free agency fight...but LeBron is making a travesty of what is already a pathetic "grab all the money you can get" free agency market. His true selfish & controlling & self-obsessed nature is showing themselves in this shameless dog & pony show on ESPN tonight. Pathetic.

It's ridiculous that CNN is even reporting on lebron, much less passing it off as news. I hope nobody signs him and we never have to hear his name again. In the meantime, how about sticking to the real news.
