Israel army: Commandos on flotilla acted bravely

Israel is defending its controversial handling of an aid flotilla, saying its troops acted professionally.

Israeli navy commando soldiers boarded the Gaza-bound flotilla in May, resulting in violence between troops and activists that left nine Turks dead. Despite public outcry over the incident, Israel said its commandos "operated properly, with professionalism, bravery and resourcefulness" and "exhibited correct decision making," according to an Israeli army review of the incident released Monday.

"The use of live fire was justified and the entire operation is estimable," the statement said.

The review was conducted by a team of experts, and their conclusions were presented Monday, the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement. The flotilla incident provides an opportunity to learn for future
missions, said Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi, Israel Defense Forces' chief of the  general staff, in a second statement.

"The IDF is confident enough to critically examine itself and improve based on the conclusions," Ashkenazi said. While no failures or negligence were found, "nonetheless, an examination as thorough as this brings up mistakes which must be corrected for future incidents."

"a coward dies many times before his natural death, a hero only once"

guess which ones are the cowards? hint, this was in international waters that this "bravery" was carried out.

"guess which ones are the cowards? hint, this was in international waters that this "bravery" was carried out."

The above quote from rh's post is indicative of the know nothing approach of the typical pro-Islamist poster. Unless one has researched the law involving enforcement of a sea embargo, one can not assume that stop potential runners in international waters is a violation of any international laws or traditions. In fact, my readings indicate that Israel had every right to stop the boats in international waters based on numerous precedents.

Israeli PM Netanyahu had already rather presumptiously proclaimed that the self styled "inquiry" would exonerate Israel even before it had even started. So that should help to expose the fraudulent nature of this so called "inquiry".

Another one in the long list of reasons why the world community SHOULD NOT trust this little criminal state.

Only two men on the Turkish Flagged Cargo ship filled with passengers pulled up wooden deck stave's and swung those on the advancing squad of Israeli Assault commandos. One passenger picked up a wooden deck chair and tried to separate himself from the heavily armed and armored Israeli Assault commando's.

The two that picked up the deck stave's did so only after the snipers in the Israeli assault helicopter circling over head shot one of their friends thru the Top of his head. After seeing someone brutally murdered, two choose to pick up wooden deck stave's. Despite numerous Israeli lies of knives being present, none were found and of course photos of 'knives' would have been immediately shown by the IDF around the world.

The photo's of the cargo ships wooden deck stave's were removed by the IDF and the only thing widely shown was a crude hand made sling shot.

The Israeli Assault commando's wore full Kevlar body armor, armed with a M4 machine gun, slung with a M204 grenade launcher underneath it. Standard issue for a assault team going in heavy. Given the Kevlar body armor alone, nothing short of a heavy caliber rifle would pose any risk of life to any of the Israeli commandos. Wooden stave's would be next to worthless on the assault helmets or armored suits.

The Forensic teams in Turkey found 7 of the 9 murdered by a single shot to the back of the head, execution style. One was shot 4 times in the head in various angles again in point blank range. The other apparently was the one sniped from above by utter cowards before the assault team even rappelled onto the Turkish vessel. One American citizen had been shot in the face at near point blank range by a GERNADE LAUNCHER fired by a Israeli Assault commando. Of course that young man immediately had one of his eye's blown out but survived. NOT one of the Israeli Assault team offered any medical assistance nor any medical supplys on the civilians that were shot, just let them bleed out and flop around in pain and suffering.

Forget the Israeli lies, a unarmed passenger was shot thru the top of his head by a cowardly Israeli sniper in a helicopter overhead BEFORE any of the Israeli Assault commando's even stepped foot on the Turkish cargo ship.

NATO and the International Community should demand that Israel release their stolen Turkish cargo ship so it can be examined for evidence of gunfire from the Israeli helicopters flying over that ship.

The Israeli commandos absolutely acted without cowardice against this lead ship, carrying more terrorists than activists. The other ships in the flotilla were taken to port without incident. In all of the video that I've seen by worldwide coverage (not just U.S.) this was, in the words of Netenyahu "...not a love boat". The Shayetet Commandos were armed with PAINTBALL weapons to take the ship. None of them wear Kevlar, as a knife would not of slid through it so easily. They were all wearing standard issue diving gear. Furthermore, all of them carried 9 mm hand guns as a last resort if their lives were in jeopordy; indeed they were, as one soldier was thrown overboard and yet another was brutally stabbed. To say the "activists" were executed point blank is radical nonsense. Look, I'm certainly no fan of Netanyahu (he is far too right wing for my taste), but he, like any sitting Prime Minister or President, cannot dictate urgent actions on a virtual battlefield as they unfold. If you were watching your colleagues being stabbed and thrown apart on a battlefield, would you release paintballs or live fire? Embargos within international waters happen frequently; the United States performed such an action during the Cuban Missle Crisis that saved our country from nuclear weapons aimed at us from Havanna. More anti-Israel this, more anti -srael that. Instead of posting rants, count the missles this week that Hamas fires into southern Israel and educate yourself with events on the ground. Perhaps you will understand why Israel is reluctant to allow more love boats pass through to the Gaza Strip. People were SPRINTING across the Egyptian border while it was open for three (3) hours under the watchful eyes and disdain of Hamas and their AK-47's. The innocents of Gaza are being held hostage by a terrorist organization wearing green. This is NOT the case on the West Bank.

I strongly urge and suggest the Greek NATO flagged cargo ship loaded with food and medical supply's now leaving Greece travel thru International Waters into Egypt's territorial waters and unloads their food and medical supplys in a Egyptian port for moving those supplies to Gaza.

IF Israel again commit's the International crime of piracy on a NATO flagged ship in International Waters or in Egypt's territorial waters then NATO and the International Community should immediately deal with Israel's criminal actions.

Despite the danger growing every minute and the environment being damaged with every barrel of leaking crude, we Americans are still arguing whether the IRANIANs are experts or not.

Lets stop being skeptical about others abilities just because we have failed. failed our nation, our environment and our marine life.

The world knows that the Iranians are experts in drilling and oil leak prevention and containment. Even the oil producing nations would bet for their skills in this crisis. It is us who are full of doubts. and the only reason for this is Israel. We see everyone who is Israel's adversary as our enemy. Anyone who talks anti-Zionist becomes our hate symbol. Lets get out of this Zionist mindset and this Iranophobia. It is our nation and its environment at stake today.

We need to rise above our political difference, they can be settled sometime else.

Lets call for the IRANIANs now before its too late to do anything better. Patience is not an option anymore. All those who thought such a thing could not happen in the US have been proven wrong.

What US needs today is friends. Friend who can help. Ask yourself one question. IRAN, so-called US enemy, has atleast help to offer in this moment of crisis. Wat does Israel have to offer? I'll tell you wat. Israeli PM has to offer a visit in this moment of crisis to ask for more US help, arms, money, fighter jets etc. This is wat US' friends have to offer. If US has friend like Israel, it surely doesn't require enemies.

Why is no news channel talking about the IRANIAN offer to help stop the oil leak?

Just because they are under sanctions for whatever reasons sponsored by the US goverment does not mean they are barred to even help on matters that are now beyond the capacity of US government or BP.

This is a Global Disaster. Stop being cynical about the Iranians and take their help. They are experts in this subject whether or not the US government agrees. Let political ego not compromise the interest of the ordinary Americans and the humanity at large.

By refusing or rather not even acknowledging the help offered by Iran, the crisis is not going to be resolved anyways. It’s only worsening by the hour.

The help offer by Iran is so strictly censored by the government that not even the so-called free press/media is talking about it.

really don't see no reason why US should not take help from IRAN.
Both BP and US government are buying time in hope that the well would eventually run dry. The whole crap about drilling of relief well is a big lie. By the time it is dug, twice the amount of oil would have leaked into the gulf as compared to today.

US does not have any know-how to stop this spill, so why not let those deal with this mess who really have the capacity and expertise to handle such catastrophe.

Mr. President, if u're listening, pls wake up and ring up the Iranian President. Let their offer to help not go in vain.

IRAN most certainly has the skills required for this kind of operation. Truly, we are too obsessed with Israel, blinded and drugged, so as not to distinguish between friends and foes.

Let the Heavens above and Earth below shower their blessings on us so that we may rid ourselves of Zionist thoughts and feelings.

Go ahead Mr. Obama and take help from Mr. Ahmedinejad before the oil reaches the shores of Manhattan

US is so obsessed with Israel that it can see nothing beyond. Not even nations who want an opportunity to be friends of America.
That be the case, Iran does not get any audience with the US government, media and planners.
Otherwise, no wise government or nation would refuse Iranian help in containing this oil spill disaster.

Iranians are willing to help. Are Americans willing to be friends?

By refusing or rather not even acknowledging the help offered by Iran, the crisis is not going to be resolved anyways. It’s only worsening by the hour. The relief well and dispersents and etc etc are all lies. Neither US government nor BP knows wat to do about the leak. Eventually Mr. Prseident may decide to nuke the well. But that's even worse than the leak. The Gulf coast and its ecology would change for the next 10000 yrs if nuked. If the oil spill reached the northern parts of the Atlantic, it could disrupt the flow of ocean currents thereby adding to the global warming effects viz. El Nino, hurricanes etc.
If the well is nuked, it will destry all ocean life in the gulf of mexico. So, the only logical way out is to take foreign help from nations that have the necessary skill, be it the enemy, for the greater good of humanity.

The help offer by Iran is so strictly censored by the government that not even the so-called free press/media is talking about it.
