Police: Shooter kills self, two others in workplace attack

Police respond to a workplace shooting in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Monday.

[Updated at 5:44 p.m., July 12] Three people - not six, as police initially said - are dead after Monday's shooting at a business in Albuquerque, according to Police Chief Ray Schultz.

The three dead include the shooter, who turned a gun on himself, according to police.

[Updated at 2:58 p.m., July 12] A former employee shot and killed five people at a business Monday in Albuquerque before turning the gun on herself, New Mexico authorities said.

Police said officers responded to a 911 call at 9:26 a.m. (11:26 a.m. ET) that multiple shots had been fired. When officers entered the building, they found a total of 10 people shot: four were dead, including a man believed to be the shooter, officials said. CNN mistakenly reported earlier that the shooter was believed to be a woman.

Two people have died as a result of gunshot wounds, two are in stable condition, and two others are receiving emergency medical attention, police said.

"We believe this incident to be a domestic-violence workplace situation," Albuquerque Police Chief Ray Schultz said.

One of the victims, Schultz said, is believed to be the wife or girlfriend of the shooter, who was a current employee at Emcore Coporation.

According to CNN affiliate KRQE, police said the shooter had been involved in a past domestic violence incident.

You say the shooter turned the gun on herself, but from what I'm seeing on the local news here the shooter was a man.

A few more like this and people will begin being very careful what they say and how they say it.
A conflagration tends to train the mind. Make you drive without offending, or someone will run you down and teach you the final six lessons of civility. – that guy from this morning still burns me.

Outlawing guns will do absolutely no good until you also outlaw anger, rage, jealousy, coveting, cruelty, meanness, ignorance, and despair. Oh yeah, and outlaw outlaws, too. Unfortunately there are always those who feel any one or all of those things and go outside the law to seek remedy. Guns make it easier to kill people to be sure—if I can kill you in one second from ten yards away while exerting little physical effort spending very little money and not getting dirty, that certainly can be said to be “easier” than many of the alternative ways to kill people mentioned in this thread. But, take away guns and people are still going to figure out a way to kill each other as long as they see killing as the answer that will bring them reward, revenge, justice, peace, or contentment. I think our efforts would be better spent in nurturing justice, peace, and contentment than in outlawing anything else.

I think the fun hasn't begun yet wait until all our boys return from the war zone, those with war mental illness and those who can't fully reintegrate and those who can't get a job...wow, are we going to have fun then?
After a few kills every new one is just normal.

Just like not everyone should be behind the wheel of a vehicle but doubt we see a lot of press standing against issuing drivers license.

This is a Global Disaster. Stop being cynical about the Iranians and take their help. They are experts in this subject whether or not the US government agrees. Let political ego not compromise the interest of the ordinary Americans and the humanity at large.

By refusing or rather not even acknowledging the help offered by Iran, the crisis is not going to be resolved anyways. It’s only worsening by the hour. The relief well and dispersents and etc etc are all lies. Neither US government nor BP knows wat to do about the leak. Eventually Mr. Prseident may decide to nuke the well. But that's even worse than the leak. The Gulf coast and its ecology would change for the next 10000 yrs if nuked. If the oil spill reached the northern parts of the Atlantic, it could disrupt the flow of ocean currents thereby adding to the global warming effects viz. El Nino, hurricanes etc.
If the well is nuked, it will destry all ocean life in the gulf of mexico. So, the only logical way out is to take foreign help from nations that have the necessary skill, be it the enemy, for the greater good of humanity.

The help offer by Iran is so strictly censored by the government that not even the so-called free press/media is talking about it.

IRAN most certainly has the skills required for this kind of operation. Truly, we are too obsessed with Israel, blinded and drugged, so as not to distinguish between friends and foes.

Let the Heavens above and Earth below shower their blessings on us so that we may rid ourselves of Zionist thoughts and feelings.

Go ahead Mr. Obama and take help from Mr. Ahmedinejad before the oil reaches the shores of Manhattan

US is so obsessed with Israel that it can see nothing beyond. Not even nations who want an opportunity to be friends of America.
That be the case, Iran does not get any audience with the US government, media and planners.
Otherwise, no wise government or nation would refuse Iranian help in containing this oil spill disaster.

Iranians are willing to help. Are Americans willing to be friends?
