BP: Oil isn't flowing during integrity test

BP's ruptured deep-sea oil well has been "shut in" and oil is no longer flowing from it, company vice president Kent Wells says.

The stoppage is part of the oil giant's integrity test of a new cap placed on the well earlier this week.

The data is being particularly closely scrutinized at six-hour intervals, so a key time will occur later Thursday night, after the first six hours.

The "well integrity" test could end after six hours, if the results are disappointing. But it could go on for 48 hours. The longer it goes, the better indications are that the well is holding with a custom-made sealing cap.

The cap, lowered in place earlier this week, has never been deployed at such depths or under such conditions and therefeore, there were no guarantees on how well it would contain the oil, BP said.

Shares of BP jumped late Thursday after the company said oil was no longer flowing into the Gulf of Mexico. The stock rose $2.74 a share, more than 7%, to close at $38.92. Earlier this month, it traded below $30 a share.

the BP test has clearly shown, that, the BOP and everything under the BOP, have had NO oil leaking (since, both, was made, by design, to resist to very high oil pressures) while the wellhead top has been completely closed by the new containment cap (whose MAIN PURPOSE isn't to close the wellhead, but, later, to collect and pump up the oil and SELL it...) and, that, was PERFECTLY KNOW by BP also BEFORE this test
      .
and THAT is what I've ALWAYS SAID in last TWO MONTHS in my article about the oil spill:

      .
so, WHY hasn't BP used a modified version of its giant Genesis GXP 2500 idraulic shears (or the containment cap used now) to do the SAME THING but TWO MONTHS AGO and BEFORE the terrific disaster in the Gulf ?????????????????
      .
could the Press INVESTIGATE on that, instead of CLOSE their eyes ????????????

Again, it seems like your lack of reading comprehension and understanding of the English language is prohibiting you from reading what I wrote.

I do not work for BP and I think BP is at fault for all of this. However, your blog is still stupid and you are a joke. Learn to express science in real diagrams like CAD or Solidworks drawings with dimensions, pressure measurements, forces, torques, etc all expressed. I bet you don't even know what that means, but oh well.

Otherwise you're just a blog spammer.

I agree with RIC. With all that streaming crap on the bottom of the screen, then they have to any other writing on top of it. Takes up 1/3 of the damn screen! 24/7 It's been like this forever and I don't see them changing it anytime soon. To repeat RIC....MORONS!!!!
