Boy walking days after 16 story plunge

Less than a week after falling 16 stories from an apartment balcony, a 15-year-old New Zealand boy was walking around a hospital Monday and was expected to be released later this week, according to news reports from New Zealand.

Jason Epps-Eades, who manages the Proximity Apartments in Manukau City, New Zealand, said the teen plunged through the roof of a parking structure before hitting the concrete below, Radio New Zealand reported, which may have broken his fall and saved his life.

The boy suffered only broken bones and was expected to be released from Middlemore Hospital later this week, Radio New Zealand reported.

According to a report in the New Zealand Herald, the teen stunned his parents and doctors by getting up from his hospital bed and walking on Monday.

Epps-Eades told the Herald the boy plunged 14 stories before hitting the metal-webbed carpark roof in a spot without metal or concrete bracing, which cushioned his fall just enough for him to survive the fall of the final two stories to the garage floor.

Police were called by a resident who saw the teen plunge past his balcony, the Herald reported.

Officials told the Herald they did not know why the boy fell. Inspections found the glass-and-steel balcony to be safe, the report said.

It's a guarantee that every article on CNN will, within 5 posts, result in a God discussion.

    Entertaining!

Why doesn't CNN have "like" buttons for comments? What is this, 2008?

Hey religious people, I really don't care if you believe in God. That's your business. However, I don't understand why a boy falling 16 storeys and surviving shows any kind of divine intervention. Most people who fall from 16 storeys will be killed. That's a fact. A small fraction will luckily survive and I'm happy that they do. I don't go around proclaiming that because 99 per cent of people are killed in such a fall is proof that there is no God. You need to drop these lucky survival stories – in plane crashes, in tornados, etc. – as proof of a miracle-working God. Those stories don't prove anything, except maybe that you are working too hard to see the non-existent hand of God operating in this world.

Lol... They don't know why he fell off a normally safe balcony. I think being a teenage boy is enough of an explanation:)

Hence Allah shows his mercy, blessings to all humen, no matter that human be a Muslim, Christian, Jew, Hindu or athiest. My congratulation to the boy and his parents, relatives, siblings and neighbors. May Allah provide hime more blessings in this world – Aameen!

How is it that the people who worship Allah seem to be the ones who are responsible for the worst crimes these days?

Kite005: I don't think the old men raping altar boys are worshiping Allah.

Besides, do you think God would protect an athiest? Maybe if He wanted to put the fear of God in him. Ha!!

Why did the kid fall? He was probably doing something stupid like college kids do during spring break in Florida. I bet he'll be scared of heights for the rest of his life.

How does a story about a kid surviving a 16 story fall become a religious debate between christians and athiests. I think it qualifies as amazing and lucky.
