Arpaio's office investigating alleged threat

The office of a controversial Arizona sheriff is investigating an alleged threat against the lawman it says came in the form of a text message from a throwaway cell phone in Mexico, a spokeswoman said Monday.

Maricopa County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Lisa Allen said that the FBI is assisting in the probe of the threat against Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

But FBI Special Agent Manuel Johnson, a spokesman for the bureau's Phoenix office, said that he knows of no FBI investigation, although, he said, they were aware of it. Johnson said the bureau would pitch in if Arpaio's office requested their assistance.

Allen said that the message, sent to a "text message tree," similar to a phone tree, offered $1 million to anyone who could kill Arpaio. But, she said, investigators "don't know how likely it is" they will be able to track down the sender.

It was not clear how the threat came to light.

The sheriff must get threats constantly given how brash he is. I am not sure how this is news.

Regarding the illegal immigration stuff in AZ, Mexicans are now fleeing Arizona, but it might not be for the reasons that you think.

Read this article to learn what they say are the real reasons they are leaving.

    FUNNY

1 – You don't understand how A US Peace Officer receiving a death threat from Foreign Criminals (that have been shown to enjoy the position authority in firepower, even if not outright support of the local officials) is news? We invaded Mexico a hundred years ago to pursue Bandits that had raided and caused less trouble along the border than these people. The Cartel employs ex-Mexican Special Forces. This has escalated to a breaking point.
2 – Some few are going home. Good a small start.
3 – I wish he was my Sheriff.
4 – All the Law enforcement I know, respect him. It's the politicians and criminals that hate him. Which are you?

    What a shock.

There aren't a whole lotta things worse than a bad cop, unless it's a bad sheriff.
I sincerly hope he gets a long prison term in the nastiest prison in the USA. They'll love him. Literally.

I saw something someones else posted on another web site thought it was good.

"I find this contract to be a joke. The zetas never place contracts they simply come for you. In mexico they routinely kill high ranking officials without so much a warning.
By the way Joe Maricopa County paid about 4 million the last time Joe faked an assassination attempt."– Jack Snow

He just trying to grab the spotlight and get Arizona and Americans behind him and his cause. I live in Maricopa. I know the people here will rally around this lie.

The guy deserves to be President of the United States and receive the medal of honor while he's at it for doing something our spineless administrations have not done. Actually enforcing the law.

I think Obama should have to move into a home in Noglas without bars on the windows and leave his cars out in the driveway and see how long the house is robed and cars are gone. These illegals don't come over the border and make it to Virginia or other states with tons of cash in their backpackes. It is time to build the fence and man it.
