South Korean maneuvers draw threat from North

A South Korean navy ship participates in drills in the Yellow Sea this week.

Just two weeks after joint drills with the U.S. Navy, South Korea's military is carrying out five days of military exercises in the Yellow Sea.

The South Korean navy, army, air force and marines are practicing techniques for detecting and evading North Korean submarines and guided missiles, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported Saturday. The exercise involves 20 ships and 4,500 troops, according to Yonhap.
The sinking of a South Korean warship in late March, in which 46 sailors died, was attributed to a North Korean submarine attack. The North calls the accusation "a fabrication."

North Korea said Friday it would "react with strong physical retaliation to the anti-submarine drill to be staged by the group of traitors in the West Sea," according to the official Korean Central News Agency.

"Our warnings are not empty rhetoric," said Rodong Sinmun, the newspaper of the North's ruling Workers' Party, according to Yonhap.

I say we make up little kits, and drop them to the North Koreans.
Each kit contains Burger, fries and a milk shake, cell phone, ipod
and a gun. picture of some naked babes.

They will be crossing the border in droves.

they haven't did anything BUT as soon as it's over (the drills) when they turn their backs (the U.S. & S.Korea) N.Korea will pull something, this is the way they work.

personally I think it would be great if both north and south korea declared war on each other , and then NOBODY SHOWED UP!!!! This story reminds me of an old move called The mouse that roared. I think one of the lines from the movie was." We will declare war on Monday-–Surrender tuesday--and put in for aid on wednesday.

Now call me stupid but I am beginning to believe N. Korea. If they did sink the Chenoan...they would have bragged about it. All they would have needed to say is that it crossed over into their waters or something like that. What country starts a war while in the middle of transferring power? Didn't we just watch our own government take down the twin towers to justify war in the middle east? I mean how hard would it be for the CIA to get their hands on an old Russian torpedo?

Boy are you paranoid!!! The United States doesn't need another war right now... If bush Jr was in office I would say you were right!!! But Obama is President and He would never start a way for no reason.. as far as North Korea goes I really don't think they really want to tart the war again!!! They have more to lose than win if they do....

The US and the South Koreans have been holding joint military exercises for decades, and the North Koreans have been threatening to retaliate. Excuse me if I do not get really concerned about the possibility.

I hate to say that China is becoming a superpower just like the US. And frankly speaking, it is scary (at least 1 billion people). I think the US is partly to be blamed. If you look around us, almost everything is made from China. Also China is buying left and right stakes at different corporations. If the US businesses did not deal with China in the first place, they wouldn't be this powerful and rich. I say the US shoudl cut all economic ties with China, move their businesses elsewhere and make other non-communist nations rich. There are a lot of other countries in Asia with cheap manpower.

Easy to stand up top a poduck country like N. Korea, with its lunatic leader. Let China knock our spy plane out of the sky over international waters (under W's watch) and we pay China room and board for keeping the crew imprisoned while they steal the secret electronics on the plane.
