Schlessinger says she won't renew radio contract

Embattled radio talk show host Dr. Laura Schlessinger announced Tuesday she will not renew her contract that is up at the end of the year, telling CNN's "Larry King Live" she wants to "regain my First Amendment rights."

Schlessinger has been under fire for using the N-word repeatedly during a recent segment of her show.

Dr. Laura appears to be quite provincial and demeaning in her approach. She reacts to situations as someone who is bitter about life. She probably believes in a God who is not loving and kind but harsh and punishment oriented. Her rude remarks provided shallow entertainment to her audience just as violent or scary movies do to theirs. Other than that, her presence in the public media probably did more harm than good.

it is laughable, dr.laura could not manage her own life, had not spoken to her own mother in over 14 yrs, had an affair without marriage which she speaks against. she is such a hypocrite!!! i have listened to her twice and that was enough.
she is rude and insulting. good ridance.

From this point forward, if you "articulate the 'B' word all the way out," you are out of line. It's only reserved for my gender and no one else can use it, ever. If you do, you are equal to Dr. Laura since she's deemed completely insensitive for "talking about" a term referring to a group she has no connection to. (Everyone on this forum is guilty – and you know it.)

Her use of the N word was only the tip of the iceberg, so to speak. She even told the caller that if she is that sensitive she shouldn't have married outside her race. I mean, Good Heavens, how much more offensive could she have been?

She got exactly what she deserved no sympathy here, and everyone that sympathises with her is outright racist. Like many people have pointed out the use of the "N" word was the least offensive thing about her condescending and berating tone.

I have had it with CNN and their one sided broadcasting; you have now become part of the problem in broadcasting. You took the whole issue out of context. LOOK OUT AMERICA YOU ARE NEXT. THIS WAS BAD NEWSCASTING – SENSATIONALISM AT ITS WORST. John Roberts' reporting really distorted and slanted the issue seemingly on purpose to enrage the public. The radio network that carried Dr. Laura's show are cowards – they caved in to left wind mentality by cancelling her show.

Barry, both fox and cnn, like the dr., are ratings chasers, and look what has happened. Both sides talk about 1st amendment rights, but you can't have it both ways.On the ground zero issue, one side is saying that it is a morals thing, well what the heck do you think this is. It isn't ok for anybody to use that word,I don't care what color they are. I work for a school district and I think that the world is in denial about what is going on around them. If you have kids, I would bet money that either your kids or people they know are listening to degrading music of some sort, mabey not at home, but probably at someone elses, and that is what most of the problem is. Check out how your kids are wearing their pants.,wonder where they got that from. We talk a good moralistic game, but most of us would't know moral if we tripped over them, yet we sit in a church, and we hear, patience, love, tollerance, and acceptance. Ask your kids about wiggers and some of the other junk that kids are talking about,if you talk to your kids about real things at all. Barry I'm not trying to bash you or anybody else, but man,try and open your eyes and really see what's going on around you and tell everybody to stop blamimg everybody else for what is going on in this world. Both sides need to get their heads out of their butts and try to make a difference in someone elses life for the good. I am neither dem. or rep, nor am I totally blind.

Ho-hum, another blabbering "conservative" hypocrite can't handle getting caught with her halo slipping and choking her around the neck.

Dr Laura, the bible speaks of people like you digging a hole for someone else and yet you fell into it yourself. I hope you now understand that you canot be judge and jury!

The woman revealed to the world on her radio show that she is a racist. That was stupid on her part. There are a lot of white undercover racists who live and work in society amongst the people they hate. They know they HAVE to. She could have kept her mouth shut, and ran her radio show like she's been doing for all these years. I'll bet that she never thought when she woke up on that morning that her radio show would be coming to an end all because she couldn't hold her racism in any longer, and decided to let the world know through her radio show that she has negative insights towards black people.

ALL of you who said you heard the broadcast and that 'it wasn't that bad' are complete idiots!!! I also heard the broadcast and I found the most horrid element of the conversation is a woman called for help dealing with an insensitive husband and didn't receive it. In her apology, Dr. Laura admitted as such. She did not help the customer which is what she pledged to do with her show.

That being said, I agree with 98% of Dr. Laura's advice but, she blew it big time on this one.

I'm happy for her. Maybe she will exercise her First Amendment rights and use the N word in front of a bunch of black people in the same room instead of hiding behind a radio mic far away.

Oh thank God this woman is off the air. She is a very hurtful person who destroys countless relationships and families with her knee-jerk, ignorant, sometimes downright racist "Advice".

I listen to Dr. Laura every day and I really like her alot – but I do have to adlit that she seems to have good days and bad days – days when she is kinder or empatheic or days when she is snappy and short-fused. Whichever one this was, I don't think she was wrong because everybody should either be able to say the word or not and therein lies the discrimination. The problem here is so clearly that she didn't stick to the point – which was kindly listening to the caller – answering the question at hand without giving examples like: Obama – the party with 35 guests etc. She gave too much personal info and all of a sudden it was all about her and not the caller. She certainly did not give the caller any solution on how to handle. And yes, the caller who married a white man should know what she is up for in a bi racial marriage. Dr/ Laura proably has a nice big stachof cash and frankly doesn't need the hassle.... funny no one has spoken about Micheal Richards – maybe they could write a coffee table book together about it..........Oh vey.
