Passenger plane crashes in China

A plane carrying 96 passengers crashed in northeast China Tuesday night, government and airline company officials told state-run media.

The Henan Airlines flight crashed about 10 p.m. Tuesday in Yichun City, officials told the Xinhua News Agency.

Rescuers were rushing to the scene, Xinhua said.

    More than half of plane crashes are because of human error, not mechanical or technological problems. Until robots fly our planes, there will always be crashes.

    Jon – nothing could be further from the truth. Many of the so called human errors are really design errors blamed on the pilots because it's easier and cheaper to do so (yes as a pilot I am biased). In my view the day aviation becomes fully automated (and yes, that day will come) the accident rates will increase. Mark my words.
