Terror suspect sang 'Complicated' on 'Canadian Idol'

Sher's appearance on Canadian Idol is splattered across YouTube.

Canadian terror plot suspect Khurram Syed Sher tried out for a spot on “Canadian Idol” in 2008, telling the judges he came to Canada from Pakistan in 2005 and performing Avril Lavigne’s “Complicated” when the judges voted for that over a Hilary Duff song.

Sher, who is actually a native Canadian, sings in a Pakistani accent while performing a series of strained dance moves, one of which is reminiscent of ice skating form. Which make sense when at the end of the performance a judge asks Sher if he considered being a comedian rather than a singer.

“Not really, I like hockey,” Sher replies.

That at least backs up what friends say about the London, Ontario, anatomical pathologist, who is a graduate of the McGill University Medical School, according to a report by CNN affiliate CTV.

"Friends say he's a fun-loving, hockey-loving guy who they can't believe been accused of being a terrorist," CTV's Roger Smith reported from Ottawa Friday.

According to CNN affiliate CBC, Sher traveled to Pakistan in 2006 to help with earthquake relief.

Sher was charged Friday with conspiracy to knowingly facilitate a terrorist activity, according to the CBC report.

Man, people don't really know what "Suspect" means anymore. These are probably the same people saying evolution is BS just because it's a "theory".

Potentially, all muslims are terrorists. Doctors say treat all blood as if infected, by HIV or other germs. I say treat all muslims as if they are terrorists. If not, we'll be surprised all the times bombs explode and friendly fires.

      Exactly,
And if the so called good Muslims don't like the way we treat them, then they should change their religion.

CNN, be careful with the term "native Canadian" in your article. Native Canadians are the same as Native Americans and this person is neither.

What this really shows is how disorganized and how poorly trained this particular individual is. Sure the video is funny, of course. But a major terror group should be reluctant to declare that he trained in one of their camps or that he has any affiliation with them. Terrorists are supposed to blend in and not draw any attention to themselves, especially if they're put in place to work on a long-term assignment. This guy sucks at that too.

Not really. IRA, Baader Menhof, ETA, Brigate Rossi are/where all white westerners where at least 2 are affiliated with religion as well (Christians). Many Americans helped funding IRA. The Stern Gang was a Jewish terrorist group where one of the members later became prime minister of Israel. One man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist.

Most terrorist activities (blowing up planes, subways, buildings etc. etc.) happen to be committed by Muslims in the name of Islam ... we see it and hear about it all the time ... And unfortunately, doesn't look like the situation will be improving any time soon because most countries with large muslim populations are ruled by thugs and lunatics and progress of any kind seems to be the last thing on their minds. A considerable amount of moderation with regards to religion in their communities has to happen. And this so called 'moderate' majority needs to play a much bigger role; the only time we seem to hear their voice is when a mosque needs to be built or someone draws a cartoon. With this kind of a backdrop, is it surprising that large numbers of people in this country and elsewhere have a negative view, to put it mildly, of Islam ...?

@Johnna It just happens that the west is attacking muslim countries. US was attacking the middle east pre 9/11. You're in a war my friend. What do you expect? Of course people will plot terrorism attacks against the states.

@johnna The problem are not the muslims. An Iraqi christian has the right to kill an american muslim soldier invading his country. People want just peace, do not want you american attack other countries. Understood ? Islam isn't evil, Christianity isn't evil–people are evil.

You moron. Islam is evil invented by an ordinary human being and led to hell billions of people. All muslims will discover one day that they were wrong but it will be too late

Our Canadian government should asked the american government to release all those Liberty ships that were used in WWII and are in drydock so we can load all of these supposed God fearing Muslims and ship them back to the hell holes from where they all come from. That includes the children born in Canada. Then we can return the shipps back to the USA and loan them whatever ships we have so they can do the same. I AM TOTALLY FED UP WITH ALL OF THEM. LOOK AT THE HISTORY OF VIOLENCE THAT IS ASSOCIATED WITH TEIR RELIGION OVER THE PAST 1500 years!!! GOOD RIDENCE.

Maybe we should round up all the Germans and Italians too while we are at it. They caused a lot of problems in the last century. We can also round up all the Americans to0 - can't forget about that War of 1812.

Round up anyone causing problems but don't paint an entire culture or religion just because a few of them commit crimes.
Just calm down and try some decaf coffee instead.

Frank, This is not so much about religion, I should of added that all US and Canadian muslims that have migrated since April 2001 that are suspected of being an extremists should be look at and I do know that converting to muslim can have extremist muslims. Anyways, this is about being scared, all religions have extremists, including mine. The fact of the matter is that I am scared and this did not happen pre 9/11. This is not about threats, this is about finding ways to prevent that my family can feel safe.
