Terror suspect sang 'Complicated' on 'Canadian Idol'

Sher's appearance on Canadian Idol is splattered across YouTube.

Canadian terror plot suspect Khurram Syed Sher tried out for a spot on “Canadian Idol” in 2008, telling the judges he came to Canada from Pakistan in 2005 and performing Avril Lavigne’s “Complicated” when the judges voted for that over a Hilary Duff song.

Sher, who is actually a native Canadian, sings in a Pakistani accent while performing a series of strained dance moves, one of which is reminiscent of ice skating form. Which make sense when at the end of the performance a judge asks Sher if he considered being a comedian rather than a singer.

“Not really, I like hockey,” Sher replies.

That at least backs up what friends say about the London, Ontario, anatomical pathologist, who is a graduate of the McGill University Medical School, according to a report by CNN affiliate CTV.

"Friends say he's a fun-loving, hockey-loving guy who they can't believe been accused of being a terrorist," CTV's Roger Smith reported from Ottawa Friday.

According to CNN affiliate CBC, Sher traveled to Pakistan in 2006 to help with earthquake relief.

Sher was charged Friday with conspiracy to knowingly facilitate a terrorist activity, according to the CBC report.

@ 5Davie, If the U.S. were attacking Muslim counties in the pursuit of taking such countries over as you seem to imply, then don't you think those governments by now would have been replaced by "American" capitalist governments meanwhile Al Fido and the Taliban would have been eliminated at this point. Have we destroyed MECCA yet! Have we turned the Middle East into a glass parking lot yet! We've had lots of opportunities to do so and plenty of legit reasons as well, but noooo, we let the Middle East wallow in their backwards caveman like ways. While trying to improve the lives of everyone around us. And how have the Muslims contributed to the benefit of mankind as a whole. Huh huh, I can't hear you. Oh, so you really have nothing to say about that, just as I thought. All talk, no action. BITE ME !!!!!!

You don't have to have a US government in place to control a country. Are you that stupid to believe US somehow did invade to improve the lives of the average Iraqis because if that's the case US have failed miserably. The average Iraqi is worse off now than under SH. How is US trying to improve the lives of all around us? When your forefathers in some god forsaken European country slaved in serfdom dirty and stinking many Muslim countries where much more civilized. They were also quite liberal toward other religions and many Jews that were expelled from Europe moved to Muslim countries. Try to read up on something instead of listening to AM radio.

Is this what caused him to snap? The fact that they put an end to his singing career and he embarrassed himself on national TV?

Once again 'terrorist' and 'Pakistan' are linked. Any wonder then that people are reluctant to send flood aid to Pakistan?

If muslims don't want to be percieved as terroists, then stand up and denounce terrorism. Take to the streets and protest against the very muslims that are giving you a bad name. I have neven seen a single protest against terrorism from the muslim community. But god forbid that an american rips a page out of the Koran and there are 100, 000 muslims in the street. Stop being hypocrytes. Prove to us that you don't support terrorism.

Its amazing how many sick people make comments.

There are 1.4 BILLION Muslims in the world. And 7 million here. If even one tenth of one percent were terrorists we would all be dead. So for those of you who think all Muslims are terrorists. You too are fools.

Its amazing how so many of you believe everything the media tells you. Osama is Saudi and created by America. When America turned on him he turned on us. But it takes someone with half a brain to realize this. Obviously many of you lack this. Pakistanis didnt dance in teh streets after 9/11. Many love the U.S. But as I said before the average intelligence of an American is about one fourth that of any kid in a third world country.

I suggest many of you take some history classes and get some unbiased info about Islam before you bash it. You will be shocked to know that their God is Your God and that much of Islam stems from the Old Testament, You know the first part of The Bible.

Muslims do denounce terrorism. The problem is that the media doesnt want you to see it or hear it.

When some bad eggs are found, all eggs are recall. When One mad cow is found they slaughter the cattle. Is this fair ? Probably not. But we should always chose safety over risk.

      @Nick ... REally ? they denounce terrorism? when ? where ?

Let them demonstrate loudly and I will be along side them.... I have been waiting for that day for years... in vain... All I hear are complaints about how mistreated they are here. Well guess what, you do not like it here go somewhere else. It is very very simple.

My point is not that all muslims are terroist...but rather muslims should be upset with the terrorists that give honest good muslims a bad name. Take all the energy that you expend yelling at people who accuse you of supporting terrorism and focus it on denouncing terrorism. You will be suprised how many will support you then. All I want to point out is that it seems that there are millions of Muslims that don't stand up to terrorism...maybe out of fear?

Have u read the koran or the read the history of islam?..u will find out that their religion was preached only by the edge of the sword...the koran is fillled with verses that they say in gods words telling them to kill the christians and the jews the people that don't belevie in islam or prophet first they preach peace and love and they aren't different to the other religion...then once in power they kill their oponents ...they play nice till they have the power to destroy u...I don't say all muslim are terrorrist but I say...the ones that are loving fun muslims..are the ones that are not into their religion ..they are just muslims by name..(like the christians by name)..if they read the koran and deeply followed it...they will become fanatics 2....lts is what the koran tell them to do and they beleive it is the word of God!!!!!

Thought: There is but one GROUP on the face of the earth. We are called Human Beings. Evil starts with the breaking down into sub groups. Evil pits one against the other. If we had to do everything perferct to accomplish a task nothing would ever be accomplished. So obviously non of us are perfect. Thank GOD?

🙂 🙂 "Do not care for doctrines, do not care for dogmas, or sects, or churches, or temples or mosques ; they count for little compared with the essence of existence in each man, which is spirituality; and the more this is developed in a man, the more powerful is he for good. Earn that first, acquire that, and criticize no one, for all doctrines and creeds have some good in them. Show by your lives that religion does not mean words, or names, or sects, but that it means spiritual realization. Only those can understand who have felt. Only those who have attained to spirituality can communicate it to others, can be great teachers of mankind. They alone are the powers of light." 🙂 🙂
    SEE GOD IN ALL !!!
The secret of religion lies not in theories but in practice. To be good and do good – that is the whole of religion.
All differences in this world are of degree, and not of kind, because oneness is the secret of everything.
'FEEL like Christ and you will be a Christ; feel like Buddha and you will be a Buddha. It is feeling that is the life, the strength, the vitality, without which no amount of intellectual activity can reach God.'
