Publicist: Zsa Zsa Gabor 'unresponsive,' rushed to hospital

Actress Zsa Zsa Gabor was rushed to the hospital after her husband found her "unresponsive" Tuesday morning, her publicist told CNN.

Gabor, 93, was taken by ambulance from her Bel Air, California, home to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, where she had undergone hip replacement surgery earlier this summer, publicist John Blanchette said Tuesday.

She was hospitalized for several days earlier this month for complications relating to the surgery, he said.

Her husband, Prince Frederic Von Anhalt, was "very agitated" after calling for an ambulance Tuesday morning, he said.

Gabor had returned home from the hospital two weeks ago because she "wants to spend her final days at her home," Blanchette said at the time.

She spent three weeks in the hospital after breaking her hip in a fall from her bed on July 17.

She has been frail and "pretty much confined to a wheelchair" since a 2002 car accident, said Von Anhalt. The crash happened when the car in which she was riding with her hairdresser slammed into a light pole on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles.

The glamorous Hungarian-born actress, the second of the three celebrated Gabor sisters, is most famous for her many marriages. Among her husbands was Oscar-winning actor George Sanders.

Her more prominent films include John Huston's 1952 Toulouse-Lautrec biopic, "Moulin Rouge;" "The Story of Three Loves" in 1953; "The Girl in the Kremlin" in 1957; and Orson Welles' 1958 classic, "Touch of Evil."

I have just postponed my planned hip replacement surgery! Can one really believe in modern medical procedures?

    • Hip Hip hooray?

I had a hip replaced at 38...pretty well back to normal now and hardly know it's there. Doing that at 93? Can't even imagine how it would be.

My mom had hip replacement, as did my brother, and they are doing fantastic. At Zsa Zsa's age there was more of a risk factor involved.

    • really?

how old are you? if you are not 93 years old, then having a hip surgery will probably not be detrimental to your wellbeing. Apparently posting this, you are very ill-informed of the surgery and what impacts it has on people of differing ages...

TMZ just reported her demise. CNN and Faux will be a hour or so behind. Rigor Mortis sets in before moist news sources figure out what's going on.

To think my mom who died of cancer in her late 40's could have gone back to infancy, lived her life again, and thus lived as many years as Zsa Zsa, who is in my prayers. She lived a very long life by longevity standards today, and several lives by the mean average of humans throughout history. She even lived richly amongst the top tier 0.001% of the global population in wealth.

Dixie, I'm with ya.... (LOL Dixie Normous) She's 93 years old, and everyone is expecting her to live to 400 years old.... Everyone needs to grow up and realize we all die. My question is, she's not dead yet?!?!? And why is this news?!?!?

Aren't we so lucky to have your brilliant insight about life and death? Gee without the likes of you, we never would have realized that we're all going to die someday. The reason it's news is that she was a famous person and when famous people are close to death in the U.S. it makes the news. Maybe you'd be interested in the death of someone else famous–a wrestler, a football player, or Hugh Hefner?

Am I the only one alive who remembers Zsa Zsa??? I lived in Palm Springs in the SIXTIES and she and her sisters were always in the headlines. I was at the RACQUET CLUB in P S when they all came in to celebrate their mother's birthday...her mother had an 'escort' who was awesome and a third her age...he danced with the MUM at least once. They all dripped with diamonds...and caused quite a stir...I remember you ZSA ZSA....go in peace.

I lived in Palm Springs, California from 1984 to 1995. I remember Zsa Zsa, Eva, Magda and their Mother Jolie. They were very nice and dressed to the nines. Eva and Zsa Zsa gave autographs graciously when asked. This was at the Flower Drum Restaurant on Indian Canyon Avenue, back in the late 80's.

This woman chose the dignity of dying at home, and had made all the preparations. Her husband finds her unresponsive, and she is rushed to the hospital. Not sure how she would feel about her wishes being ignored. She has made her decision, let her die in peace.
