Quran-burning could endanger troops, Petraeus warns

The U.S. commander in Afghanistan on Monday criticized a Florida church's plan to burn copies of the Quran on September 11, warning the demonstration "could cause significant problems" for American troops overseas.

"It could endanger troops and it could endanger the overall effort in Afghanistan," Gen. David Petraeus said in a statement issued Monday.

The Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida, plans to mark the anniversary of al Qaeda's September 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington by burning copies of the Muslim holy book. The church insists the event is "neither an act of love nor of hate," but a warning against what it calls the threats posed by Islam.

Christianity and Islam have two things in common: (1) Each sees itself as a religion of love, peace, and unity. (2) Each sees the other as a religion of hate, war, and division.
Frankly, the second opinion seems to be more accurate.

This is wrong in so many ways.

The god of Islam is the same god of the jews and the same god of the christains.

They only have differnt messagers but the same message.

    The devil's plan worked!

Male mandrills flash their red, white, and blue penises at passers-by to prove what big, macho hunks they are. Dove Church should be called Mandrill Church.

To call this a religious conflict is to close ur eyes to the real truth. Whats happening here would in no way endager our troops over seas any more than they already are, there will still be ied's and iud's and suicide bombings and everything else. Until the day comes when all these false prophets and religions are finally prooved to be bull-s, and all the weak minded sheep realize that life is what it is, we will continie to have all the hatred and retaliation from both and all sides. It really disgusting, i cant wait for the day when religion is called just what it is, fear mongering, and outlawed. Bunch of sheep, all being herded into the apocolypse.

I believe that if some harm does come to our troops or any Americans due to the actions of this "pastor" and his followers, they should be charged with treason. They know what the outcome will be if they follow thru with their actions. I am one of the many who have written an email to him regarding the consequences of his actions. They have been forwarned by the Top General himself. Treason should be considered for traitors, if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem!

For those of you who thinks burning Quran would "could cause significant problems", have they not been causing problems? Had they not been causing bloodshed? Did the 911 happen due to problems on our part? And the road bombs that killed our soldiers? NO. All the violence and bloodshed happened because of the Muslims' own problem and their warped mind. You think tolerating Muslims can appease them? No way. Being nice to the enemy equals to being brutal to yourself. The more you fear them the more your enemy will bully you. Burning Quran or not, the Muslims will continue to cause harm whenever they can whatever chance they get.

I wonder if burning several books did any good.... Hasn't Dove World Outreach Center got any serious work to do?
Showing disrespect to other religions is uncivilized and unclever.
