Police: Kentucky man kills 5, himself

A man in Kentucky shot and killed five people before turning the gun on himself after a domestic dispute on Saturday, Breathitt County Sheriff Ray Clemons told CNN.

The gunman was identified as 47-year-old Stanley Neace, said Trooper Jody Sims of the Kentucky State Police, which took over the investigation.

Clemons said Neace's wife and stepson are among the dead.

Neighbor Martha Jackson told CNN affiliate WLEX that Neace ran up to her and asked to use her phone.

"I said, 'Do you want me to call 911 for you?' and he said, 'yes,' and told the police ... 'Stanley Neace was shooting, running in people's homes, killing 'em,'" Jackson said.

The shooting happened around midday at a mobile home community of about a dozen trailers, Clemons said. He declined to give the victims' ages and names.

Officers heard a gunshot as they arrived on scene and later found a 12-gauge shotgun, Sims said. The suspected gunman was found dead on the front porch of his house, while the victims were found in two separate residences, he added.

      Sure, why not?
How long before we lose all our rights because of some tragedy or another is used as an excuse to further curtail them?
You will already be harassed for daring to take pictures of public buildings – could be a terrorist you know.
Regardless of your nationality, you have ZERO rights when crossing the US border.
We have given up the moral high ground on issues such as torture, unlawful imprisonment and government sanctioned murder of our own citizens.
Freedom of religion is on shaky ground – unless you are a member of one of the ‘approved’ religions.
I guess we might as well go ahead and give a few billion more $$ to BATFE so they can confiscate all our firearms as well. Maybe they should outlaw knives longer than 3” and blunt objects as well since they are also dangerous and could be used to hurt someone?

He's white, so this will be seen as a tragedy. Poor white man, he was just under so much pressure–and probably his wife is to blame for that pressure, as she can't even cook eggs–that he tragically snapped. We must be sympathetic. After all, he was a white male in his forties–the most OPPRESSED demographic in the history of the world.

An angry, white, American, male the most dangerous form of terrorism there is because they are unpredictable, selfish, self centered egomaniacs with access to any weapon they want to use in the land of the free. They are responsible for more US deaths than any outsider.

You are so wrong Jan, if he had been black it would have been because he was oppressed by the whities, didn't know which black man was his father, lived in the hood etc etc.....it certainly would not have been HIS own fault!!! Wake up dumba$$.

      Judy, Jan.

      You both are incredibly ignorant.

While I'm sure your self-centered, agenda oriented lot would love it if it weren't true, almost every single major terrorist attack within the last decade stands staunchly against your infantile tripe.

Unless it was white men who blew up those buses in the UK, or ran those airplanes into those towers, or attempted to blow up a van full of explosives in New York recently, or Shot more than a dozen people at forty hood or.. Do i really need to go on?

      Really?

And don't even get me started on crime statistics correlating with ethnic demographics in the United States. You should pay the Department of Judicial Statistic's website a visit, you might learn something.

Get your heads out of your rectums, thanks.

No, just a rural part of the country. I know it is hard for our urban brethren to grasp, but there are large portions of this nation that are still very remote and rural, without quick access to ambulance or police services. The fact that its the county sheriff speaking to the situation, and not a municipal police chief, (and the fact that I grew up in Kentucky and know the area) tells me that this probably occurred in one of those rural areas.
Folks in those parts really can't count on the police to respond quickly, and everyone who lives in these areas knows it. The response time is also why most folks in those areas also have guns of their own.

Everyone who commits murder will have skin tone one way or another which is separate from their actions. Melanin content has no bearing on ones actions. All of you wise up and stop setting back the human race with ignorance.

Everyone, Listen UP; this man did not murder because of the color of his skin. He murdered because he became angry, had a gun and used it on people he was angry with or just innocent bystanders

E-Nomad typical argument...ridicule ,swear and belittle and you call us ignorant. Add all those "major terrorist attacks" together that you mentioned and it doesn't come close to domestic violence deaths in America. Having been at the other end of one of those angry drunken white men's guns I'm not ignorant of what I speak and I have massive scars to prove it.

  14. Wow

I just can't believe people will take the loss of human life and use it to further their personal agenda. No compassion. No morals. Just wag your tongue so you can spout your rhetoric. Guess I might as well jump on the band wagon. Maybe this guy had a history of domestic abuse, maybe he didn't. But it's women like Judy who put up with dangerous, abusive men who create situations like this. There – I DARED to blame the victim! As someone who worked in a county prosecutors office I know first hand that 90% of all women who call 911 for help during a violent fight with their spouse will call crying the next day that "he didn't mean it" "I don't want to press charges" "I looooove him!" Yea – o.k. – we'll let him out, just let me know who to call when we have to take your body to the morgue next time.
