'Bore hole' reaches trapped miners in Chile

A bore hole reached 33 trapped Chilean miners Friday, officials said, but it must be widened before miners can squeeze through - a process that should take a few weeks.

So happy! They are getting closer to bringing all 33 home alive & well! Not a day goes by that I don't think about these men! Almost like family! I had to stop watching the news just to get a good nights rest, even then, I dreamed of them! We want them home!!

Plan B as I understand is the American plan. Today I am proud to an American and the son of an copper miner.

God? There is no "God." Man created him centuries ago to explain the unexplainable, and most of the reason for his creation has been explained (there are still a few things out there that science cannot yet explain). Thus Man created god centuries ago, and destoyed the need for him decades ago. take your "God" and leave these poor miners alone. If they are believers then let them believe without your interference.

You pray to God, I'll pray to the engineers. Instead of waking up one morning with a vision from an angel telling them how to drill and rescue trapped miners, they went to school for years and have years more of experience. Plus, if you ask them a question, you'll get an answer.

Ever think that perhaps God provided the engineers to drill the releif hole? Do you think it is possible God is sending a message about how we take care of the rest of creation? Do you think it possible that these people are still alive and that the countless things that could have gone worse didn't because God wants to teach, not kill? The word "Good" comes from the word God. Does God always to good? If God wanted to force a good world, God would have done so. Perhaps God is about the perfection that comes from imperfections. Perhaps God understands with out tragedy, there is no joy that follows. Without sin, there is no grace.

That being said, Thank God these people are getting their exodus soon, Thank God for engineers, Worldwide awarenss and hope, thank you engineers, Miners, Oil rig operators, Doctors and world Leaders who are supporting the rescue. Thank you CNN for letting us know about this.

The "invisible sky fairy" resides in the hearts of men. I pray that you find that someday. If you choose not to, it is your choice, just as it is mine to thank god. What we need to realize is that our beliefs are our own, and judging others is not what progresses us as a race.

Believing in incorrect things also does not progress us forward as a society (the earth is not flat, the earth is not the center of the universe). What about all of the abuse that has gone on in the church... must be gods way of teaching us all lessons. Get over it, god does not exist and god does not need to exist for people to be kind, supportive, and helpful.

@Mike from Merriam Webster on the origin of "good"
Middle English, from Old English gōd; akin to Old High German guot good, Middle High German gatern to unite, Sanskrit gadhya what one clings to

I'm sorry Steve, but – as you say- just as I have no proof god does exist, you have no proof god doesn't exist. I'm inclined to disagree, and I feel everyone should seek their own path, good luck with yours.

"Ever think that perhaps God provided the engineers to drill the releif hole?"

No, I think that their parents and their schools and their own personal creativity and strength did that.

"Do you think it is possible God is sending a message about how we take care of the rest of creation?"

Then that's pretty rotten of him. Are all mining disasters part of God's plan, or just this one? Are any mining disasters the result of poor planning and a management more concerned with profit than safety?

How ignorant can you be. If something does not exist then there is no proof so the absence of proof is the proof there there is no existence. For something to have been around so long (an imagination) show one bit of "proof" besides what someone wrote. You are basing your ideas on something someone jotted down a few hundred years ago. I think our way of thinking has evolved since then. Grow up.

If god exists, then why did this ever happen in the first place? And don't feed me that "He's making them stronger for the future" bs that has already been said. If god does exist, then why is the world full of problems instead of being a perfect utopian society? If there really is a god, he's a kid at an anthill with a magnifying glass.

@caannie – If I recall my Sunday school lessons (as well as later sermons) correctly, God doesn't put any diffuculty in peoples path at all. The devil does. Oh wait, God DOES put problems in peoples path. Wait wait... No he doesn't....

Why don't you take you faith and go sit in a pew for a while while contemplationg the contradicting messages inside you own church. Examples to contemplate: The New Testament (Let alone the whole Bible) contradicts itself more than 100 times. The messages of Peter, Paul and all the other disciples vary from each telling, so either it was contrived (a lie) or the trusted disciples themselves are lying. Why is it when a pastory reads a statement that is cut and dry, s/he always says "But that's not what it REALLY means" if it is something that would potentially offend people? If you trace the "symbology" of Revelations it has already happened (minus the Zombie christians) three times since the conception of the bible! So... Contemplate go contemplate your religion before try to force it on those that have actually studied (or been raised and disillusioned within) it.

The way I see it Robert, yes, all things came from god. Obviously this is my opinion, so before anyone tries to debunk me, know that an opinion cannot be disproved. God also gave us free will, with that we acquired knowledge. From knowledge comes tools which interact with our environment. Meth in itself is not inherently good or bad, it doesn't hurt someone passing by. It is when it's used in a manner that is destructive that we see problems. This can be explained easily by the saying "guns don't kill people, people do" the problem is not god, whether he exists or not, and how we prove or disprove that. The problem is men, and our sinful ways.

      Yah Steve,
except there isn't thousands of years of history, archeological evidence, and sound and logical teaching supporting your spaghetti monster theory. The majority of people on this planet, spanning across many many cultures and lands, continue through history to seek a higher power. But I guess if you don't want to, that's your choice. Believe in the spaghetti monster, it's humorous at least.

Its just as humorous as believing in an all powerful god that puts people in difficult situations just to test them. And there is no historical proof of a god... if so, everyone would believe it. Instead it is a tool used by the weak to feel better about the uncertain nature of the world. The worst part about it is that it makes people not take responsibility for their actions... because it was either God or the Devil doing it. How about all of those child abuse issues in the church... boy that makes me sing the praises of a god.

There is physical evidence. Google archeological evidence of god, then compare it to whatever you choose as a reasonable test of truth. You are tested by man and nature, and likewise you test those as well. A fighter jet could be used as a good example, we test physics, our own creations, and our beliefs. Why do you find it so hard to believe that you cannot be tested by a superior force or being? There are uncertainties, and I'd say in light of things I am weak. The planet, solar system, galaxy, universe are very vast compared to me and my capabilities. I try to keep my mind open to all possibilities, perhaps you have a more logical belief?

I understand there is a lot of misinformation on the net, which is why you should acquire as many sources as you can when doing your research. Where does your belief that there is not god come from? What are your beliefs?

Who have you been listening too or reading. This is no proof of any God evidence having been discovered, only evidence of different cultures having some idea of a higher power to help them explain the unknowning and scary parts of their lifes.

As for God being so caring and nice, so people out there need to read your bible. The old testment is full of examples of Gods wrath and jealously when he didn't get what he wanted. All caring, get a grip. God will not come and save you, that is up for us to take care of each other.

God is in the heart of all men, the bible is my guide, but it may not be everyone's. How does one go about disproving a belief? A belief that has survived for so long across so many cultures and lands even? At the very least, one cannot argue that god exists as an Idea. Too often I feel people misconstrue the message, look at religion. Have you read the bible Anne? I don't know your destination, but I wish you good fortune in your life.
