I am happy to hear these great news... yeah!! If you do not know, there are three plans to rescue the miners. Plans A and C are in their way, this hole was made for the digger of Plan B. I understand your comments, but please ...this situation hurt us as Chileans, do not joke with our miners. In all the places around the world are some neglect clerks, that are not doing their job right, it is not the whole country and the government. who left this miners in this situation. Happy Independence Chileans!!! Viva Chile!!

I remember them saying that the hold was going to be 27 inches. is that what it is now, or is that what they are widening it to? I don't know how big your waist is .. but 27 inches wouldn't cut it for me.

I wish CNN would take a HS math course ... so let's see it is Pi times the Radius Squared ... so if you drill a hole that is 1 foot in diameter ... how much MORE rock do you need to remove to have a hole 28" in diameter .... Hmmm, that works out to Late November. Nothing has changed and the Miners are not "almost out". CNN was similarly challenged in their High school math and science skills during their coverage of the Oil spill.

Forget all the religious blather and concentrate on the fact that this is yet ANOTHER consequence of Corporate indifference, carelessness, ignorance and the pursuit of profit-at-any-price ! !

It is to the credit of the Chilean government that no expense has apparently been spared to save these men - but the accident should NOT have been allowed to happen in the first place.

Mining has always been a dangerous job. Business as usual is to make as much money as possible, which means cutting corners. Governments go along with this without the slightest foresight. There isn't a whole lot of room for change as we are reaching the limits of our planet.
