This really the last thing you expect in NYC – tornadoes! Thankfully there wasn't more casualties! I know people in Queens are still without power and likely be so until Sunday. Imagine that in the middle of summer!

It is cool really to see Parrot like people speak up on different sites – hope the rest of the folks begin to realize when they are lied to. If this is not stupid enough to realize "not to parrot" what else can be?

Damn we had 2 tornados!!! Having one tornado is rare enough but 2 in one day plus whatever a microburst is.Live on Long Isl.it was scary sky seemed normal then it went green then saw this huge black cloud moving.Thinking ok,this isn't normal what the hell is happening. Then it hit like that couldn't see 2ft infront of me.

Not only the ugly pea green sky, but where urban noise doesn't block the chirping of birds, birds suddenly stop chirping and everything gets deadly quiet. Animals (dogs and farm stock) can start acting funny too. Glad you're okay. Grew up in a tornado alley, fascinating as long as the tree doesn't land in your lap, poor person!

Yes, back in the 70's and 80's, tornado warnings would come up in the summer, fall.
