Missing 'cult-like' group found alive after suicide fears

A group of 13 Salvadoran immigrants missing in southern California amid fears that they planned a cult-like mass suicide have been found alive, a sheriff's spokesman said Sunday.

Authorities had been scouring the Palmdale area of northern Los Angeles County on horseback and by helicopter Sunday in search of the group, which included eight children between the ages of 3 and 17, said Steve Whitmore, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. A resident spotted one of the vehicles identified in the lookout and notified the sheriff's department, he said.

I think this is public stunt and they want to promote their religion and what ever it is I think they got. Publicity and now other similar people will contact them and make bigger group. This is a growing business. There is nothing like banktrupcy in this business.

Not "cult like", but cult. No need for quotation marks or the word 'like'. It is a religious group that believes in the after life. These are cults and they hijack minds and insert delusions and make up gods in their own image and demand faith and prayer and obedience and sometimes killing. Cult. Call it what is is.

I hope they are found safe and sound. May God or anyone help the children. Hopefully everyone here knows that and doesn't belittle this by posting their views about religion. @Blackmammy, get some help.

I agree. Let the adults do whatever they want to do to themselves, but it's horrible for them to drag children into it. CPS should have been on their case already!

Religion in 50 years will be viewed the same way as racism today. Once, it made sense. But in reality, it is (what you would call a person with downs)

Hey Broseph: You were referring to Downs Syndrome as a euphemism for the "R" word. When I was younger,we referred to this as Mongoloidism. Anyway, I don't think you should go to hell for talking this way and I doubt you'll lose sleep over it. This guy wishing you eternal damnation, however, should lose a lot of sleep and might lose his soul if he happens to be right. hH's probably wrong, but quite an evil person to condemn you.

Sounds like mainstream religion. Don't they all believe in the "after life"?

If a kid figures out his parents were lying about Santa Clause by the time he's six, when does he figure out their lying about Jesus, as well.

@denco I did read the Bible; I gave it a chance. I never believed in Santa Claus (mainly because every xmas gift I got from Santa Claus was labeled in my parents' handwriting) or God (which left no physical evidence whatsoever–a crusty self-referential book doesn't count as evidence). So nope, you can't use that argument.
