Vatican Bank investigated over money laundering allegations

Italian authorities are investigating the Vatican Bank over possible violations of money laundering regulations, the Bank of Italy told CNN Tuesday.

Another Italian bank alerted Bank of Italy investigators to two Vatican Bank transactions that did not appear to comply with anti-money laundering requirements, the Bank of Italy said.

When Bank of Italy investigators told legal authorities about the transactions, they were told that judicial authorities were already investigating the Vatican Bank, the Bank of Italy said.

The Vatican said Tuesday it is "perplexed and baffled" by the public prosecutor's actions, and that the Holy See aims for "complete transparency" in its financial operations.

Religion is created by people and people are corrupt. Open ur eyes and believe in urself first, instead of blindly following organizations run by child molesters.

It appears that "la piovra" (not me) can hide behind a cassock. Certainly the RAI series of that name never presented priests as anything but good guys, and doubtless most of them are, but the wide-spead structure of the hierarchy, its opacity, and the wealth that it moves would make it a prime candidate for incorporation into the network, if that could be accomplished. At the same time, the Berlusconi regime is itself deeply inveigled in "corruzione", so I mistrust its motives. This should be interesting to watch.

why am I not surprised, if they can turn a blind eye to raping children, money laundering would nearly seem insignificant.

Honestly from the Vatican would be a new concept and one the Vatican has avoided for hundreds of years. Why change the manner in which they do business? They have a very successful business model and if I were them I would stick to it.

I read the bible through once, it was a long time ago, but I don't remember at any time reading a passage where Jesus asked for money...............................if I'm mistaken please correct me. I have always been ready to discuss religion, or salvation, or morals with anyone, of any faith, at any time; but, if they ask for money, I close the door.
