Vatican Bank investigated over money laundering allegations

Italian authorities are investigating the Vatican Bank over possible violations of money laundering regulations, the Bank of Italy told CNN Tuesday.

Another Italian bank alerted Bank of Italy investigators to two Vatican Bank transactions that did not appear to comply with anti-money laundering requirements, the Bank of Italy said.

When Bank of Italy investigators told legal authorities about the transactions, they were told that judicial authorities were already investigating the Vatican Bank, the Bank of Italy said.

The Vatican said Tuesday it is "perplexed and baffled" by the public prosecutor's actions, and that the Holy See aims for "complete transparency" in its financial operations.

Doesn't surprise me. In my opinion religion is the biggest mafia of all.

I just love how the Vatican Bank is being investigated and all the Catholics immediately turn a financial investigation into a platform for pro-life rhetoric. Religion is a business, just like any other. The only difference is that Microsoft doesn't claim it's backed by god.

I really hate this crappy forum system. I write a post and hit the post button and sometimes it posts and sometimes it does not. Never an explanation. No error message is given. The post just goes into limbo.

Every single organization that was ever created, whether religious or not, has endured scandal– after all, they are ALL made up of people. People are flawed, not the actual groups. I'm sad for those who try so hard to release their own unhappiness and frustration by posting rhetoric and sarcasm because other human beings are making mistakes. Whether you agree with Catholicism or not, take a look in any newspaper or news site anywhere in the world and you'll find stories of people making bad choices in ALL kinds of organizations. No amount of hatred that you decide to spill in your posting is going to change the mind of even ONE Catholic, so save your energy and do something good like the vast majority of those who truly practice the Catholic faith do on a daily basis.

You may not change the mind of a Catholic, but you might save someone before they convert.

You can dig up alot of dirt in any organization if you subpoena them for the last 100 years as they did with the Catholic Diocese. People need to quit reading between the lines and get more facts before they start pointing fingers, stop and take a look at yourselves first and ask what is it you can do to make this world better instead of what everybody else is doing, if we all start with ourselves this world would be better you have to take the stick out of your eye first before you can try and take the splinter out of your nieghbors eye.

Well, well, well, another eye opener to all you sheeple who whorship at the feet of the sodomizer-pedophilia church.
The only reason that this so called Holy Vatican catholic cesspool is in existence is for the brainwashing and fleecing the world's stupid Goy Sheeple out of their money. You're worshiping a fat Gay man being carried around on a couch! Pray straight to G-d and not through an organized ongoing criminal enterprise of sodomites. Laundering drug money is just the tip of the iceberg. Arrest the whole hierarchy and send them to prison for life, where they can pray to their sodomy dog.

The best solution would be to stop donating money and just drop a 12 year old on the collection plate.

Everyone defending the Church please be honest and reconize that the Catholic Church has failed to live up Christan Standards just like other fallen so called Christian Ministers (ie Jim Baker for example). Why is it so hard to shun these vile un christian people. They get involved with Politics and warfare (Think of even the Swedish guard) Contray to Matt 26:52 and The entire Chapter OF jOHN 17 ABOUT BEING NO PART OF THE WORLD. Let's not forget 1 Tim 4: 1-3 were it mentions about signs by demons when ones forbid Marriage or cerain foods. Moving around pedophiles is abhorrent period. It would have been one thing if it was one persons word against anothers but when you have mutliple witnesses coming forward then they should have followed Jesus's words in Matt 18: 15 -17 when you take along one or two other witnesses if he doesn't repent let him just as a tax collector or one from the nations – THE CHURCH FAILED THIS – ABhorrent. Also ask any elderly person who fought in WW II whether Allied or Axis in Middle Europe and hey'll all tell you of the evidence of the birthing rooms between the Rectory and the Nunnery at some locations and the dead babies. For the vindication of Yahweh and his Christ let them perish, thatis the vatican and all of False Religion!!
