Supreme Court rejects woman's death-row appeal
The Supreme Court on Tuesday denied an appeal by Teresa Lewis to halt her execution in the state of Virginia. The execution is scheduled for Thursday night.
Lewis pleaded guilty to her role in the 2002 slayings of her husband and stepson in their rural home near Danville, about 145 miles from Richmond, Virginia. Two male co-conspirators - the triggermen - were given life in prison without parole.
Lewis and her lawyers had formally asked Gov. Bob McDonnell to spare her life, arguing she has an IQ that is borderline mentally retarded and that she was manipulated to commit the crimes by a dominant male co-defendant.
McDonnell on Friday rejected the request, and Lewis' lawyers appealed to the Supreme Court.

Capital punishment should be shown on TV for all who want to witness the use of taxpayer money. The fact that the govt refuses to allow the general public to witness these acts shows there desire to cover up their hypocrtical actions. Your knowledge of scripture is limited. Death is indicated for various offenses, among them adultery. Of course, you can always claim that these are acts 'against God'.
But we don't watch operating surgeons on patients on TV ? Almost everyone supports surgery, but not everyone could watch.
I'm not sure what to think about this one. One account paints her as being manipulated by one of the killers who committed suicide. Another account paints her as being just as cold and calculating as the killers. At any rate she was definitely involved at any rate the ones who actually did commit the murders deserve the same punishment. The letter by the one killer bragging about how he targeted her to manipulate should be enough for her to get a life sentence without parole just like the real killers got. The only thing that might make me think otherwise is the time lag before calling the police. If I remember the events correctly one life might have not been lost if she called earlier. I still think that she was vulnerable to the manipulation from the one guy and therefore should not be executed while the other two got life sentences.

Actually if you were to read the entire case, you will see that this retardation thing is merely a ruse. Before the crime she was a fully functional member of society and no one thought of her as anything different. She started that scam after the arrest and during the trial. She was found to be fully capable of understanding what she did, the trail she was sitting through, and the evilness of the acts she was accused and found guilty of. Enough said.
