The Supreme Court on Tuesday denied an appeal by Teresa Lewis to halt her execution in the state of Virginia. The execution is scheduled for Thursday night.
Lewis pleaded guilty to her role in the 2002 slayings of her husband and stepson in their rural home near Danville, about 145 miles from Richmond, Virginia. Two male co-conspirators - the triggermen - were given life in prison without parole.
Lewis and her lawyers had formally asked Gov. Bob McDonnell to spare her life, arguing she has an IQ that is borderline mentally retarded and that she was manipulated to commit the crimes by a dominant male co-defendant.
McDonnell on Friday rejected the request, and Lewis' lawyers appealed to the Supreme Court.
yup. Thou shalt NOT kill. It applies to ALL mankind.
The correct original translation of that commandment was "Thou shalt not murder.."
according to who? a faceless fairytale figure in the sky?
Victims receive death sentences...shouldn't the ones guilty of handing out these sentences themselves be judged by their laws?
W/ developmental problems, she may have been abused. She will be so frightened, since she may not comprehend everything that is happening
This woman who has "developmental problems" never failed a grade in school until she dropped out at 16. She was subsequently trained as a certified medical assistant.
So...dumb people get a pass when they kill someone???
most of this board is on the down side of the bell curve
It speaks ill of a society that advocates the death of mentally deificient woman. This is a woman who possesses an I.Q. of 70 and was the hapless victim of manipulation by two others that will be serving life.

"They say she gave her conspirators $1,200 to buy guns, set up an alibi for herself during an earlier, failed attempt to have her husband killed, then left the door to her trailer unlocked so the gunmen could slip in" Yup...she def sounds retarded to me
If God was here that man would not have been murdered in the first place...
Oooops! I replied to the wrong post...Doh!
How come God is never around to stop the bad things from happening, and is always the reason for good things happening
Well, I guess we could get her a tutor for the IQ test and then execute her.
Evil does not require high intelligence. It's evil we punish, not smarts.
IQ test done AFTER she was arrested. Smart enough to "dumb it down" I'd say. She is a certified medical assistant. How "mentally retarded" can she be? I don't agree with the death penalty BTW...but she is guilty of accessory to murder.
Lets just say, it will be our day in heaven when God judges all the government people (judges, attorneys, every law officer out there) to hell. Our justice system sucks, by showing favortism. Thank God he shows no favortism. We all p are created equal!
If God was here for the victim, he would not have been murdered in the first place...
We are all created equal? Hmmm... are you borderline IQd too?
Hey, this b!tch had someone come in the house and blast her old man with a shotgun to kill him so they could collect his insurance money. She has owned up to doing it and now she does not want to pay an eye for an eye? She will die by injection. That's a lot better than her old man had. I think they should fry her and let me pull the switch.
Bye bit-h!
Fifth Commandment: Thou shalt not kill. There are no exceptions for States or countries. Thou shalt not kill.
Remember, Jesus stepped in and stopped the stoning of the woman. Thou shalt not kill, even as punishment.
"Thall shall not murder" is the SIXTH commandment...AHEM..cough...just saying
Your Bible is mistranslated. Properly, that should read: Thou shalt not commit an unlawful killing. Even in the Latin, that distinction is made clear.
The woman was accused of adultery, not murder. Kind of a subtle difference wouldn't ya' say??? The Old testament also says, "eye for an eye", and chops the hands of thieves off. Let's reconcile that.
BP, what we call the 'Ten Commandments' is not a numbered list, it's a narrative. Jews, Christians and Protestans derive different numbered lists from it, though all take care to make sure it comes to ten in the end.
I can see arguments both ways on the death penalty. However, I am saddened by the number of shallow comments such as "fry her", "execute the executioners", etc. They seem to be the majority of the posts. It seems as if this country has a lot of uneducated people (or perhaps willfully ignorant people) who are not capable of any position but the most extreme, and who feel compelled to express themselves with invectives. We are talking about life and death, after all. Can you try to be serious for just a minute and reflect on the issues in serious, thoughtful way? Thanks to those of you, on both sides, who have done that.
Sometimes when you roll the dice you get..."snake eyes". .....
don't do the crime if ya can't....you know.... LOL
of course it cost mlre to execute than GIVE a life in prison sentence but that life in prison sentence cost over 40,000 dollars a year and that is in the cneap state of Utah.
Why is it that Europeans are so wimpy that they no longer have a death penalty? We, on the other hand, associate ourselves with bastions of freedom such as China, Saudi Arabia, and Iran when it comes to executing people. And those of you who think that it's cheaper to execute than to keep people in jail for life are also mistaken. The way the death penalty works in this country, you spend half a lifetime in prison before you're executed. The whole thing makes no sense at all.
They should have given death penalty to the two other men as well. Save us some money
And the Rats who actually did the deed and pulled the trigger... Live...guss they were even more mentaly retarded then she was....LMAO
what a country
