Georgia pastor vows to fight sex allegations

Georgia pastor Eddie Long took to the pulpit to tell his side of the story on Sunday, days after four lawsuits were filed claiming he coerced young males into sexual relationships.

Speaking to the massive congregation packed into the Atlanta-area New Birth Missionary Baptist Church for an 8 a.m. service, Long said that "this is probably the most difficult time" of his entire life, but he intends to fight the allegations against him.

He said his first responsibility was his family, and the members of his Atlanta-area church. However, he added that he would be "remiss" not to address "the world."

"I've been accused, I'm under attack. I want you to know, as I said earlier, that I am not a perfect man," he said. "But this thing, I'm going to fight."

Bishop should not put himself and family in a embarrasing situation. U dont build something and allow others to take what God gives u. God was tired of the lies. And he gave a warning. But when everybody's praising u. Its hard to see. STEP DOWN. Your arrogance jas got in the way of your job...

Innocent-until-proven-guilty and all - but when one sets himself up in a position of complete trust as a pastor and confidant to his congregation he'd better hold himself to a higher set of standards.

This guy is disgusting. I'm just glad he's being smacked in the but for being a predjiduce against gay people. Everyone deserves the same rights. It's like saying he's wrong because he's black and Christian soothe world should hate him and march against him for being black. If your black we accept you for who you are if you decide to live your life as a Christian we have accepted that's your belief. So if someone is gay don't judge them don't hurt them we are all human at the end of the day. There are rapists like this and serial killers out there and drug dealers and you people are worrying about gay people who are truly in love being married. It's not your right to decide. Accept people for who they are

The threat of AIDS is real. We didn't make that up. We know who has AIDS the most and we don't want to be around them at all.

This is not about Bishop Long from a church point of view, it is about Jesus and how people who really need to have a personal relationship with him will be turn off from having one because they will think and are seeing that what happens in the world as a whole is happenning the body of Christ.

Well Lamont.....maybe it isn't the body of Christ.

I beg to differ with you Lamont. It's about 4 CHILDREN who were manipliated and abused by someone they trusted and loved and someone that supposedly a man of God. May God bless and keep these young men. And may God have mercy on Bishop Long's soul. Bishop Long should repent and come forth admit what he's done to these children, because God knows we are sinful and he will forgive us.

Long claims that he "feels like David going up against Goliath".and upon hearing this, his church applauded loudly. I fail to see any similarities. David was a young boy at that time...Long is old. David wasn't gay....Long is. God was with David and protected him...Long is exposedWhen David erred, he begged forgiveness...Long fights tooth and nail. Does his church not know the biblical account of David? Or do they just know Long's account of it, not studying it for themselves.
