Georgia pastor vows to fight sex allegations

Georgia pastor Eddie Long took to the pulpit to tell his side of the story on Sunday, days after four lawsuits were filed claiming he coerced young males into sexual relationships.

Speaking to the massive congregation packed into the Atlanta-area New Birth Missionary Baptist Church for an 8 a.m. service, Long said that "this is probably the most difficult time" of his entire life, but he intends to fight the allegations against him.

He said his first responsibility was his family, and the members of his Atlanta-area church. However, he added that he would be "remiss" not to address "the world."

"I've been accused, I'm under attack. I want you to know, as I said earlier, that I am not a perfect man," he said. "But this thing, I'm going to fight."

I never realized how many ignorant people posted comments on the blog. Stop and think before posting childish and silly remarks. A person is innocent until proven guilty. Be very careful. God just might start revealing some of your skeletons. God said not to judge because you will be judged. As believers, we are one body with many members. If one hurts, we all hurts. Pray for all involve.

I know exactly what these Men r going through...I was a victim of the same exact thing except 4 it wasn't the Pastor. It really bothered me 2 c so many people Jump up and shout on Sunday when he said NOTHING!! To all u New Birth Members who Worship ur GOD (Eddie Long) STOP IT!!! Have u ever thought; maybe God revealed him 2 u 2 show u that u shouldn't put ur faith and praise in a imperfect man, and trust him (GOD) the true and living and PERFECT one...? SN: He (Eddie) drives a $300, 000 car while; u catch the BUS everywhere, He eats T-Bone Steaks 4 dinner; while u eat TV Dinners, He goes 2 his Luxurious house and sleeps in his California King Size Bed; while u go 2 ur crammed up 1 bedroom apartment and sleep on ur lumpy full-sized mattress, He flies around the World in his Private Jet; while u take a uncomfortable window seat in Coach on a Delta Plane...GOD said that men will become more lovers of themselves then of he the Christ (And 4rm what I C u guys love Eddie Long more than u love GOD)...I wouldn't doubt 4 a second that these allegations aren’t true…At least this man spoke 2 u and gave u a hefty story which no one asked 4...U guys asked "Bishop" Long 4 the truth and he gave y'all nothing. HE Used Y’ALL AS HUMAN SHIELDS 4rm THE MEDIA ON SUNDAY AND YALL WERE 2 DUMB enough 2 resist….The Walls of New Birth r slowly crumbling down..bcuz I guarantee u there's more 2 this than u think.

I understand that one should not judge and be not judged. However, the Bishop judges God's children daily, which is also not acceptable either. 2 Timothy 3 explains it all. Pray for discernment people and ask for your own understanding as the Bible states. Is it judging or freedom of speech, perhaps both. Nevertheless, the truth is being revealed daily. Unfortunately for many of God's believers they chose to follow the man and not the word, and often times the word was good. The word will lead you to salvation and heaven – the man will lead you straight to (you know where). Bishop Long is not God and it is time that many realize that he is flesh and the flesh is weak. This is not about Bishop Long, this is about a fallen man who allowed his love of money and desire for selfish pleasure to overshadow his love for God. He, like many, got caught up and is about to get caught. Bishop Long or Eddie Wrong as I prefer to call him, did confess on Sunday – he said and I quote "I never said I was perfect.," which means that when the truth is revealed in its entirety, he can restate that he told us all "that he was not perfect." It does not take an educated person to figure it out. He is not totally innocent in these allegations and he knows it. America, he told you so himself. Further. Bishop Wrong stated that "he was under attack." Not true, according to the lawsuits, 3 parties are named including New Birth and Longfellows Academy, so why is it so personal to him. Answer: Because Bishop Eddie Wrong feels that he is New Birth and he is Longfellows Academy because he built these empires on his congregation's money. Therefore, his church nor the academy deserves an apology for being caught up in this mess. Bishop Long's behavior is no secret, it has been talked about for years, but he feels that he is above the law. Too bad, you should have settled with the young men when they came to you. Failing to realize that because they were Black and poor and not able to afford an attorney, or that no one would believe them and take on the all too powerful Eddie Long and New Birth was a total lapse in jugement on your part. However, you will fight this things with your congregant's money and bring them down with you. Bishop, no one is too big to be brought down, not even you. 5 rocks huh...you might need some meteors.

2 Timothy 31But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.
6They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth. 8Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth—men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. 9But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.

Curtis Mayfield told the story of Eddie Long in his 1972 Superfly Album

    "Eddie you should know better.
    Brother you know you wrong.
Think of the fears and tears you bring to your folks back home.
They'd say, where did he go wrong my lord?.
We planned and worked hard from the very start
Tried to make him better than all the rest
But the brother proved to be so much less

    Eddie is everybody's friend
But sometimes we wonder now and then
The only time he'll choose you
When there's something to lose through
    His personal loss
And the friend pays the cost
    All the time

Must be something that's freezin' his mind
that has made him, through greed, so very blind
And I don't think he's gonna make it this time"

  15. God's Daughter

Eddie Long is not alone in this mess. As preachers we are the closest thing to God that people might see. We have to walk taller. There are certain places we cant go, certain people we cant entertain, certaib things we just cant say, and standards that we must live by. We cant just go around assuming that we can do any and every thing and God is gpoing to forgive us. The Father is going to hold us accountable for our wrong doings and that goes for everyone, however, if we must fall (Preachers) let it be at home, and not in public so the world would have an excuse not to come to Jesus. They will assume if you all can be this ragedy, how ragedy is your God. And can we blame them. Ifr these accusations should be true, apologize to God first, repent, turn 360 degrees, ask your congregation for forgiveness, now Im sure you sat many gays dwn, many pregnant women down, many sinners down when they fell, why not sit your self down since you fell. No sin is greater and God is going to expose us if we keep playing with Him. I just hope he doesnt expose me before I have a chance to get myself together. That's why we have to be careful not to be laying snares for people, because it might be you that falls into that same snare. God I pray your hands of protection on your people, Satan is out ot get us, and our flesh is running a muck!
