Somebody please explain how a dead man in a river looks like the result of a segway accident.

Just speculating...was riding the thing too fast, lost control/wasn't paying attention, went into the river, hit his head on the device or a rock and drowned.

Read the last line of the article. "A Segway-type vehicle was recovered from the river, police said."

A dead man AND A SEGWAY were found in the river. Presumably, he was riding it. Was probably operator rather than machine error, but it's most likely still a Segway accident.

CNN's toning down the story. He was apparently jumping off the cliff into the water. If he was trying to earn a Darwin Award, he won.
