UFOs eyed nukes, ex-Air Force personnel say

Seven former U.S. Air Force personnel gathered in Washington Monday to recount UFO sightings over nuclear weapons facilities in decades past – accounts that a UFO researcher says show extraterrestrial beings are interested in the world’s nuclear arms race and may be sending humans a message.

At a news conference at the National Press Club, the six former officers and one ex-enlisted man recalled either personal sightings or reports from subordinates and others of UFOs hovering over nuclear missile silos or nuclear weapons storage areas in the 1960s, '70s and '80s.

Three of the former Air Force officers – though they hadn’t seen the UFOs themselves - told reporters that UFOs hovering over silos around Montana’s Malmstrom Air Force Base in 1967 appeared to have temporarily deactivated some of the nuclear missiles.

Much of the testimony already has appeared in books, websites and elsewhere. But UFO researcher and author Robert Hastings, who organized the news conference, said the time has come for the U.S. government to acknowledge the UFO visits.

“I believe - these gentlemen believe - that this planet is being visited by beings from another world, who for whatever reason have taken an interest in the nuclear arms race which began at the end of World War II,” said Hastings, who added that more than 120 former military personnel have told him about UFOs visiting nuclear sites.

“Regarding the missile shutdown incidents, my opinion … is that whoever are aboard these craft are sending a signal to both Washington and Moscow, among others, that we are playing with fire – that the possession and threatened use of nuclear weapons potentially threatens the human race and the integrity of the planetary environment,” he said.

Former Air Force Capt. Robert Salas – who has written a book about the Montana incidents – said he was underground when a UFO hovered over his missile silo in March 1967, and therefore couldn’t see it. He said one of his guards above ground told him a red, glowing object about 30 feet in diameter was hovering just above the front gate of the facility, in an isolated area far from Malmstrom.

“And just as I [called my commander], our missiles began going into what’s called a no-go condition, or unlaunchable. Essentially, they were disabled while this object was still hovering over out site,” Salas said.

Salas and others said the military urged them at the time not to talk about the incidents.

Retired Col. Charles Halt recalled seeing UFOs over the woods near Royal Air Force Stations Bentwaters and Woodbridge in eastern England in December 1980. He and security personnel were investigating reports of strange lights just outside one of the bases.

“All through the forest was a bright glowing object,” he said Monday. “The best way I can describe it, it looked like an eye – with bright red, with a dark center. It appeared to be winking. It was shedding something like molten metal, was dripping off it.

“It silently moved through the trees, avoiding any contact, it bobbed up and down, and at one point it actually approached us. We tried to get closer. It receded out into the field, beyond the forest, and silently exploded into five white objects – gone. So we went out into the field looking for any evidence, because something had been apparently falling off it – and we find nothing,” he said.

He recalled subsequently seeing other objects in the sky, including one that stopped about 3,000 feet overhead and “sent down a concentrated beam at our feet.” No one was harmed.

“The best way I can equate it is sort of a laser beam. We stood there in awe. Was this a warning? Was this an attempt to communicate? Was this a weapon? Or just a probe?” he said.

At about the same time, he was hearing radio reports from base personnel that beams from some of the objects were “falling into or near the weapons storage area.”

In a staff meeting later, a general decided “it happened off base, so it’s a British affair,” Halt recalled. “In other words, they were loathe to get involved.”

The Air Force investigated UFOs from 1948 to 1969 under a program eventually called Project Blue Book. The service, on its website, says the project concluded that “no UFO reported, investigated, and evaluated by the Air Force has ever given any indication of threat to our national security.” It also says there has been "no evidence that sightings categorized as 'unidentified' are extraterrestrial vehicles."

Salas said the UFO phenomenon “is real, not imaginary.”

“There is current excessive secrecy in our government surrounding this phenomenon,” he said.

A reporter asked how many of the former military personnel subscribed to Hastings’ theory that the message of extraterrestrials is that humans should get rid of nuclear weapons, and how many of them believed that we should get rid of nukes. Of the seven, it appeared that only Salas raised his hand.

This has been going on for a long time. Any decent American hearing of this should be enraged. We have been lied to and lied to over and again by the very people we entrust to protect us. They treat us like idiots. Sadly, some are more than happy to play along. Hang on to your seats boys and girls. Knowledge of this is going to change EVERYTHING.

The fact that we have a Tea Party in the US and people like Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly and alike in positions of influence shows us that the US has enough idiots to enable them. All over the world we have people choosing religion over reason, sadly the world is full of those idiots. So if I was a person in power, I would not want to give those idiots something to freak out about. They are a risk to national security, sadly they cannot handle the truth.

There seems to be a lot of overlap between the people who discount anyone who believes in UFOs, and the people who believe a book written by people whose technology consisted of throwing rocks and spears at each other – about an invisible being who smited entire civilizations for the heck of it – as literal truth.

Mulder knew: The truth is out there. The problem with the truth is that it requires no one to proclaim it and it requires no one to believe it. It just is.

Obi-Wan once said “…you're going to find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view”. Your belief in what is true is tainted by your point of view and so is theirs.

Kosh will tell one of us that “Understanding is a three edged sword. Your side, their side, and the truth.” No single side will ever understand the truth.

Those that you claim to be lying to us do not understand the truth. They are only a single edge to an incomplete blade blinded by their own point of view looking for something that has no need of them, the truth. You will not find the truth through them. If any truth is ever known to any other edged, it will be exposed in such a way that it is out of their control.

As far as the UFOs go maybe they are basically studying our nuclear technology because they do not use it and our practical use of nuclear technology is rare enough in the Universe that we are one of the few places where it can be studied in a practical “real world” environment. In fact from my point of view most the things we allege UFOs and aliens do seem to be of a similar nature to the activities that we would observe in our own research scientists.

Do you know why alien abduction is the perfect excuse?

When you wakeup on the side of road, five states away from home, missing 5 days of time, and you butt is sore it is the only excuse.

We've seen their BEST EVIDENCE for UFOs. Blurry photos and "eye witness" accounts are hardly convincing. Let me know when you finally have a space ship I can walk into, confirmed DNA samples of alien-human hybrids, or one those famous butt probes I hear so much about. Until then, keep taking your meds.

  3. Not Another Crazy Story !

I don't understand the point behind this story ! The only thing I can gather is that they just want to make paranoid people even more paranoid ! There's always going to be some threat out there either real or perceived , the best thing we can do is live our lives and trust that our armed forces are capable of handling the task !

Oh gosh, if only it were true that they would save us from ourselves and deactivate all nuclear weapons....If there are aliens visiting the earth, they are probably smart enough not to allow themselves to be shot down by the governments on this violent, uh...nuclear weapons.

If you did some research you would find the story about the Tibetan Monk who predicted that ETs would intervene and prevent a Nuclear War from occurring on 2012. He said that at that point contact would be made and they would show themselves to everyone in a way where they wouldn't be scared.

Sounds pretty awesome if I do say so myself. I kind of believe him cause if you think about it why the hell would a Monk lie? I mean hes a Monk so its not like hes getting paid hes just living in the mountains with no real need for money.

he probably is not lying but he could be channeling. that is where the demonic, satans clan, can contact you and make you believe that they are of God. they will give names like archangel michael. haven't you ever seen how many so called psychics say that they channeled michael? google it. they all claim the same thing. and they say that they were told something will happen on a certain day. sometimes they are right but most of the time they are wrong. its evil. god warns in the bible to not dabble in fortune telling, predicting the future, soothsaying and occult behaviors. talking to the dead would fall in there too which would be these beings talking to them. you don't know they are not who they say they are. they are "the masters of deception" and these aliens, look up aliens are demons or fallen angels. you will be surprised at what you find. check out LA Marzulli's work. and no he is not some sci fi freak. just check it out. he is all based on facts and history! 100%

On a serious note, The 1951 sci-fi movie The Day the Earth Stood Still should have to be viewed by all Americans as a staple prophesy of our times. It was a great movie and one that still captivates audiences (although American audiences of today are far too ignorant to understand its meaning and many of them would dismiss the movie because there were no black dummies in it). It was a great movie with a whole lot of relevance to what still should be some intelligent life on this planet that has now largely vanished!!!

If there's one thing I would LOVE about aliens being proven real, it's the hissy fit that Christians and other religious zealots would have for being proven incorrect, until they make up some new mythology(but it's nothing like those silly Greeks and Romans, thank goodness we're so much more advanced now, to not believe in such silly mythical tales)

You can go to any science museum around the world to see the abundance of fossil evidence that backs up the theory of evolution. Also, the evidence is found glaringly in our DNA. I accept evolution like I accept airplanes can fly. However, where’s all the museums with all the bits of alien technology, ship wrecks, bodies, bones left behind? Real hard evidence? So far, none.

We could be alone. I doubt it in my opinion mind, but we can’t even put an accurate figure on the probability of our own existence. Maybe it’s only 1 planet in a trillion universes that manages to spark duplicating cells to evolve or maybe it’s a trillion planets in 1 universe for life to inevitably spark off.
