UFOs eyed nukes, ex-Air Force personnel say

Seven former U.S. Air Force personnel gathered in Washington Monday to recount UFO sightings over nuclear weapons facilities in decades past – accounts that a UFO researcher says show extraterrestrial beings are interested in the world’s nuclear arms race and may be sending humans a message.

At a news conference at the National Press Club, the six former officers and one ex-enlisted man recalled either personal sightings or reports from subordinates and others of UFOs hovering over nuclear missile silos or nuclear weapons storage areas in the 1960s, '70s and '80s.

Three of the former Air Force officers – though they hadn’t seen the UFOs themselves - told reporters that UFOs hovering over silos around Montana’s Malmstrom Air Force Base in 1967 appeared to have temporarily deactivated some of the nuclear missiles.

Much of the testimony already has appeared in books, websites and elsewhere. But UFO researcher and author Robert Hastings, who organized the news conference, said the time has come for the U.S. government to acknowledge the UFO visits.

“I believe - these gentlemen believe - that this planet is being visited by beings from another world, who for whatever reason have taken an interest in the nuclear arms race which began at the end of World War II,” said Hastings, who added that more than 120 former military personnel have told him about UFOs visiting nuclear sites.

“Regarding the missile shutdown incidents, my opinion … is that whoever are aboard these craft are sending a signal to both Washington and Moscow, among others, that we are playing with fire – that the possession and threatened use of nuclear weapons potentially threatens the human race and the integrity of the planetary environment,” he said.

Former Air Force Capt. Robert Salas – who has written a book about the Montana incidents – said he was underground when a UFO hovered over his missile silo in March 1967, and therefore couldn’t see it. He said one of his guards above ground told him a red, glowing object about 30 feet in diameter was hovering just above the front gate of the facility, in an isolated area far from Malmstrom.

“And just as I [called my commander], our missiles began going into what’s called a no-go condition, or unlaunchable. Essentially, they were disabled while this object was still hovering over out site,” Salas said.

Salas and others said the military urged them at the time not to talk about the incidents.

Retired Col. Charles Halt recalled seeing UFOs over the woods near Royal Air Force Stations Bentwaters and Woodbridge in eastern England in December 1980. He and security personnel were investigating reports of strange lights just outside one of the bases.

“All through the forest was a bright glowing object,” he said Monday. “The best way I can describe it, it looked like an eye – with bright red, with a dark center. It appeared to be winking. It was shedding something like molten metal, was dripping off it.

“It silently moved through the trees, avoiding any contact, it bobbed up and down, and at one point it actually approached us. We tried to get closer. It receded out into the field, beyond the forest, and silently exploded into five white objects – gone. So we went out into the field looking for any evidence, because something had been apparently falling off it – and we find nothing,” he said.

He recalled subsequently seeing other objects in the sky, including one that stopped about 3,000 feet overhead and “sent down a concentrated beam at our feet.” No one was harmed.

“The best way I can equate it is sort of a laser beam. We stood there in awe. Was this a warning? Was this an attempt to communicate? Was this a weapon? Or just a probe?” he said.

At about the same time, he was hearing radio reports from base personnel that beams from some of the objects were “falling into or near the weapons storage area.”

In a staff meeting later, a general decided “it happened off base, so it’s a British affair,” Halt recalled. “In other words, they were loathe to get involved.”

The Air Force investigated UFOs from 1948 to 1969 under a program eventually called Project Blue Book. The service, on its website, says the project concluded that “no UFO reported, investigated, and evaluated by the Air Force has ever given any indication of threat to our national security.” It also says there has been "no evidence that sightings categorized as 'unidentified' are extraterrestrial vehicles."

Salas said the UFO phenomenon “is real, not imaginary.”

“There is current excessive secrecy in our government surrounding this phenomenon,” he said.

A reporter asked how many of the former military personnel subscribed to Hastings’ theory that the message of extraterrestrials is that humans should get rid of nuclear weapons, and how many of them believed that we should get rid of nukes. Of the seven, it appeared that only Salas raised his hand.

to reduce credibility in the public, the insectoid based alien lifeforms involved in the abduction of human and infiltration in society has to stage isolated sightings of green men, dwaves, countless weird looking humanoids which are simply robotic probes. It is because of these decoys that researchers like Jacques Vallees implied there was just too many encounters and theorized these may be interaction of consciousness with higher dimensional existence. Perfect decoys to divide the public and scientists while the real aliens are clandestinely interacting with the population. Are things hopeless at this stage or can we still win the war of the silent invasion??

Since Albert Einstein proved that light speed is impossible, how would any aliens get here? Do you have any idea how far away the nearest star with planets around it is? Close Encounters of the Third Kind just made people suspect the government of crap that isn't even possible. Travel in open space is something that has not and probably will never happen. But keeping people wary of the government in these matters makes it easier for the government to do things that are not really what our government should be doing.

The speed of light may NOT prohibit space travel after all. As a matter of fact, NASA has stated in official releases that it is considering various technologies that may, in practice 'get around' the assumed 'speed limit' imposed by 'light speed'. For example, in physics, the Alcubierre drive is based on the the curvature taking the form of a wave in which a space craft is carried in a "bubble" collapsing at one end, expanding at the other end. Thus the wave motion literally carries such a craft as an ocean wave 'carries' a surfer'. Such a craft is 'warped' from one space point to another in less time than light through unwarped space. In practice, such a craft is not moving faster than light relative to the 'bubble'. This concept requires a craft incorporating a region of exotic matter, or "negative mass". Those disagreeing with this, I suggest that they take it up with NASA.

you must realize that if there is extraterrestrial life and they are doing this to us then clearly the human race is to violent to ever reach the means of leaving our solar system. they wont let us they are trying to push us in the right direction and without them we probably would have destroyed ourselves by now. the human race is under quarantine.

nick posts a very reasonable argument. My argument against his is this. We as a species although violent can attribute it merely to the fact that our world is exception-ably hostile. Consider the very notion that our "brain" is the only object that we humans have evolved to defend ourselves with. With this in mind you must understand that we are coded after thousands and thousands of years to fight and survive. We humans as a race have only recently since the time of just 20,000 years ago took off as being the superior species. We have been around for 250,000 or more years, so for 230,000 years or more we have not been so successful. As a species we are new to our vast intelect and we are slowly learning and evolving, thus far we have staved off extinction of our own hand. What needs to be understood is that Empires create an explosion of knowledge, but these empires failed due to corruption and due to the few being vastly powerful at the many's expense. As a world we are a Empire. We are Global. To continue we must stave off corruption, take personal responsibilities, and advance our intellect further. The first thing is to spread and share our resources evenly and fairly across all planes and fields of this earth, in doing so we will see success. Wars are mostly started due to the fact that resources are not there but that some party has more resources than it needs. If you like do multiple searches of what brought down great civilizations and you will find that i am right.

I believe 100 % in God but I also want to keep an open mind as to what UFOs are or are not. If this is something from another planet, I don't think they are here just to help or warn us. They are probably very afraid that our nuclear weapons present a danger to the universe as a whole. The church I attend feels like they are demons or some evil based form of trickery to distract us from God. As a Christian, I know that God is as real as the Devil and I can see the Churchs' point..... I have witnessed something in the sky that I could not identify and ended up reporting it to Mufon. When I was 12, I watched an apparition form at the edge of my bed in the middle of the day. It was hot and humid and the room this happened in was stiffling. Within seconds, the room felt like a freezer. I have to put my trust in God as there are just too many things that I cannot explain.

If governments revealed the existence of aliens, and that the aliens were sending us a message if hope and unity, maybe humanity and society could make the changes necessary to live a purpose filled life

And then banks and armies and governments themselves would all become useless, as nearly 100% of humans would have a clear objective in their lives. No government is letting any truth out.

Travelling out in open space is probably not possible, indeed.

But travelling the long distances between stars is possible if one can freely acess spacetime-less dimensions.

The fact that we have no idea how to do it does not mean such acess is impossible.

that is extremely short minded soul. We had no "idea" how to make a computer work 20,000 years ago... and look at us now typing on one... also if you would like a better example simply look at us trailing to the moon, lots of ppl did not understand how to do it. yet we did it.

seriously u say light speed is impossible well guess what stephen hawking proved it is possible but the ship would have to be the size of a country, on top of that if aliens can travel through space and get here then there intelligence is at a whole other level, that we couldnt even imagine, even the worlds smartest minds would be like children to them. if aliens were here and wanted to do us harm, there would be no war it would just be a slaughter, or they would enslave us
    that just my opinion

Count me as a believer in alien life. I saw a UFO once in the mountains of Arizona. It was the strangest thing I had ever seen. It had lots of different colored lights and appeared circular. It made no sound. Since it was at night I blinked my flashlight at it a few times and it made an immediate 90-degree turn and came straight towards the three of us. Yes, we all saw it and we got scared. So we hid behind trees. I remember feeling at this point that there was someone or something inside my mind and that I was totally exposed. So I had the insight to ask the question "What should I think?" and the answer came "I'm not ready yet." It was at that point that the craft made another 90-degree instantaneous turn and resumed it's original course. I remember that there was something funny about the craft, which I couldn't describe very well with words. The best I could say was that it was "there and not there" at the same time. It may well have been in some kind of space-time bubble. But I've never seen anything like it before that time or since.

So many credible government and military witnesses, including generals, have come forward now, not to mention hundreds of Phoenix residents in 1999. No government on earth could build such sophisticated aircraft. Dr. Michio Kaku makes an excellent point about physics – our understanding is based on laws of physics from the 1930s – it's possible another civilization could be 1,000s or millions of years ahead of us and be able to travel through space with ease. Beam me up, Scotty.

This is awesome. I saw Brian from Detroit's comment about how could aliens possibly get here if it is impossible to move faster than the speed of light. Well guys, Einstein may have just been proven wrong, check out this CNN article about scientists who discovered neutrinos that can travel faster than the speed of light http://articles.cnn.com/2011-09-23/world/world_europe_switzerland-science_1_neutrinos-large-hadron-collider-european-organization?_s=PM:EUROPE

You guys are all wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. The aliens are already amongst us. They run our governments. How else can you explain the callous, inhuman behaviour our politicians display on a daily basis and the signature, gross hoarding of power and wealth? In books people write "it's just human nature" - BS!
