UFOs eyed nukes, ex-Air Force personnel say

Seven former U.S. Air Force personnel gathered in Washington Monday to recount UFO sightings over nuclear weapons facilities in decades past – accounts that a UFO researcher says show extraterrestrial beings are interested in the world’s nuclear arms race and may be sending humans a message.

At a news conference at the National Press Club, the six former officers and one ex-enlisted man recalled either personal sightings or reports from subordinates and others of UFOs hovering over nuclear missile silos or nuclear weapons storage areas in the 1960s, '70s and '80s.

Three of the former Air Force officers – though they hadn’t seen the UFOs themselves - told reporters that UFOs hovering over silos around Montana’s Malmstrom Air Force Base in 1967 appeared to have temporarily deactivated some of the nuclear missiles.

Much of the testimony already has appeared in books, websites and elsewhere. But UFO researcher and author Robert Hastings, who organized the news conference, said the time has come for the U.S. government to acknowledge the UFO visits.

“I believe - these gentlemen believe - that this planet is being visited by beings from another world, who for whatever reason have taken an interest in the nuclear arms race which began at the end of World War II,” said Hastings, who added that more than 120 former military personnel have told him about UFOs visiting nuclear sites.

“Regarding the missile shutdown incidents, my opinion … is that whoever are aboard these craft are sending a signal to both Washington and Moscow, among others, that we are playing with fire – that the possession and threatened use of nuclear weapons potentially threatens the human race and the integrity of the planetary environment,” he said.

Former Air Force Capt. Robert Salas – who has written a book about the Montana incidents – said he was underground when a UFO hovered over his missile silo in March 1967, and therefore couldn’t see it. He said one of his guards above ground told him a red, glowing object about 30 feet in diameter was hovering just above the front gate of the facility, in an isolated area far from Malmstrom.

“And just as I [called my commander], our missiles began going into what’s called a no-go condition, or unlaunchable. Essentially, they were disabled while this object was still hovering over out site,” Salas said.

Salas and others said the military urged them at the time not to talk about the incidents.

Retired Col. Charles Halt recalled seeing UFOs over the woods near Royal Air Force Stations Bentwaters and Woodbridge in eastern England in December 1980. He and security personnel were investigating reports of strange lights just outside one of the bases.

“All through the forest was a bright glowing object,” he said Monday. “The best way I can describe it, it looked like an eye – with bright red, with a dark center. It appeared to be winking. It was shedding something like molten metal, was dripping off it.

“It silently moved through the trees, avoiding any contact, it bobbed up and down, and at one point it actually approached us. We tried to get closer. It receded out into the field, beyond the forest, and silently exploded into five white objects – gone. So we went out into the field looking for any evidence, because something had been apparently falling off it – and we find nothing,” he said.

He recalled subsequently seeing other objects in the sky, including one that stopped about 3,000 feet overhead and “sent down a concentrated beam at our feet.” No one was harmed.

“The best way I can equate it is sort of a laser beam. We stood there in awe. Was this a warning? Was this an attempt to communicate? Was this a weapon? Or just a probe?” he said.

At about the same time, he was hearing radio reports from base personnel that beams from some of the objects were “falling into or near the weapons storage area.”

In a staff meeting later, a general decided “it happened off base, so it’s a British affair,” Halt recalled. “In other words, they were loathe to get involved.”

The Air Force investigated UFOs from 1948 to 1969 under a program eventually called Project Blue Book. The service, on its website, says the project concluded that “no UFO reported, investigated, and evaluated by the Air Force has ever given any indication of threat to our national security.” It also says there has been "no evidence that sightings categorized as 'unidentified' are extraterrestrial vehicles."

Salas said the UFO phenomenon “is real, not imaginary.”

“There is current excessive secrecy in our government surrounding this phenomenon,” he said.

A reporter asked how many of the former military personnel subscribed to Hastings’ theory that the message of extraterrestrials is that humans should get rid of nuclear weapons, and how many of them believed that we should get rid of nukes. Of the seven, it appeared that only Salas raised his hand.

    BralenX and others,

First of all, UFOs are not from another planet or star system. These UFOs and the so called "aliens" resulted from experiments from a previous high tech civilization on earth. And what we have that they don't? Our soul matrix or unique quantum signatures in our body that produce our mind and emotion and experiences. They want to interface with that and acquire abilities from us. Within our mind and emotion hold the power of the universe that can produce such stunts as telekinesis, teleportation, etc. The creatures being more of cybernetic or artificial kind want that knowledge and powers from us. This is what they are studying from abductees and I learnt all this from the abductees and the creatures themselves. I know this is hard to believe but this is what is happening. Many decades from now when advances and breakthough in physics and biophysics give us the advance science of the soul matrix (which is what gives us consciousness, qualia, self awareness, etc.). Then people and scientist would find out and realize this is what they want. Btw.. the UFOs are interested in the nuclear facilities for the reason they live right on earth in subterranean facilities and don't want the world to be contaminated with radioactivity should nuclear war occured and be destroyed which can affect their experiments with the human race.

For those who still believe UFOs come from other star systems and just doing normal biology experiments like acquiring DNA. Don't be so naive as reality is more complicated than you think.

While statistically possible that an alien made its way to explore the earth- we have to consider the energy required to cross space and the motive behind the voyage. It is farfetched to think that some alien from another world used gazillion kilojoules of energy to accelerate and reach velocities nearer the speed of light to travel through 20 or more light years of empty space. Then, upon arrival into the vicinity of our solar system, trigger the spent of another gazillion kilojoule to slow down the ship and bring it to a stop over some rather empty parts of America. Then at another gazillion kilojoules spent, leave and returns to its point of origin, all to have a look-see?! I regard this as a highly improbable explanation for the sighting. A simpler and more plausible theory is that these sightings are related to unknown experimental surveillance flying objects from the USSR.

Please, lose your human bias. Think about the number of years it's taken us to reach this kind of technology. Not many at all. Now think about a civilization that has a billion year head start on us. Understand that there is most likely a way to manipulate physics to travel vast distances. As the great Carl Sagan would say, you need to lose your human bias and open your mind a little bit to other ways of travel which already solve the "problem" of energy required, etc.

V- You didn't understand the point. I am not contending whether interstellar travel is not possible. I am talking about what is a more plausible explanation for the specific sightings in question. We deal with this possibility of true sightings all the time at my place of work- JPL- we are still looking for one that we could say, ok that one I cannot explain- it has not happen yet.

    Absolutely Steve Barron... Agree 100%.

Perhaps sceptical groups of scientists should spend more time investigating what is seen and photographed by reliable people and forget about the radio signal search. Afterall if ET's are travelling to our Solar System either from elsewhere in the Universe or from some other dimension, they probably won't leave another WOW! moment as happened in SETI on August 15, 1977.

Are they laughing at us and our scientist's naivety? How much evidence does science need, to finally say OMG we might be wrong?

The Big Bang is only a theory and they don't even have any eyewitness accounts as evidence for that one. Yet how many of our astro-physists believe that is how the Universe began?

Is a sceptical scientist really a sceptic or a selective believer in only their theories?

The word theory seems to get left off the Theory of Evolution, or the Theory of the Big Bang a bit too easily these days, and in the process, changing what is only theory, with some evidence, to (in many people's minds) fact. Should scientists really allow that?

While I'm not going to get into a debate as to whether or not our planet has been visited, I will ask you to hypothetically put yourself into the position of an alien leader and then ask this question; would you do what ever it takes, including assassination, or even wholesale extermination, to keep these incredibly self destructive, arrogant little talking monkeys of a species, from moving themselves off their homeworld and into space? Be honest, we all know that we humans are not fit, as yet, to begin spreading ourselves offworld. We're just too self destructive and violent.

Pretty accurate. It wouldn't be long before we were grasping for their technology and when they resisted we start killing some of them and than we'd be in for it.

Simple-minded extrapolation and a note to consider before being so negative on humans: An alien civilization, that survive its own evolution and which is capable of interstellar travel, could very well be unfriendly. Most animals that posses the instinct to roam, explore, are predators.

    Hi all,

This past monday, I and my wife , we have seen a bright yellow light in the sky, I cant really describe the shape of it, it was like large in size, not far from us, all of the sudden that light left a trail of , i would say sparks behind , this trail to me was well over 200 meters long, then it turn around and it went away.
We kept watching it , and that light , disapeared suddently.
I am pretty sure it was an UFO type of thing, there was no noise at all.
We live in Simi Valley, California, and I have never seen such thing like it in my life.
I believe that extraterrestrial are sending us a message not to mass with our environment.
I thought I would share what I and my wife have seen this past monday.
Funny enough, I was watching the news today and this just comes to confirm what we have seen.
Whoever reads my experience, may laugh, but the truth is that I have seen it and I would like to appeal to all people in the world to respect the environement we live in and also to some other lifes that we dont know of their existence.
God bless us all, and God bess America

If we go to moon from here and now going to Mars too..why it is not possible that they too can come here.?? when I saw a orange color object with so many lights underneath just few feet above roof ,it disappeared fast. It was like a big plate with so many lights underneath. No body believe when I said . It was the most strange thing I have ever seen. So many things happen in the sky while the world is fast asleep. That was really strange flying object the way it moved fast in to the clouds.

Its just us from the future, we obviously will do something major in the future with Nuclear weapons and the future human race is trying to do something to prevent it.

The theory I like about what these things are is the time machine theory – example – maybe these things are scientists from the future drilling quantum holes back in time (all time is the same in quantum time – so there is no past or future) and what we are seeing is them entering and existing our time space as we percieve it – maybe nuclear power falities give off a radiation signiture that acts as a sign post for entry points, like a pin on a map – nukes might act as a 'stargate' – doesn't rule out the possibility of alien technology – but our future people would seem as alien – as aliens. Ronald Mallett's idea about how such a time machine could work is worth looking up for anyone interested.

Having spent 8 years tracking the skys with air force radar systems and than a year of satelittle tracking, I can assure you that not once did we ever see anything strange in the sky, let alone hovering over a nuke site. We would have loved to scramble fighters to break the boredom . The galaxy is to big and distances to great to have visitors, heck humans will be lucky to leave our own solar system. Robots can go but us frail, foot eating critters are stuck here.
