Iran's Defense Ministry released photos of what it says are its new radar-evading flying boats, the Bavar 2.
Iran unveiled three squadrons of new flying boats on Tuesday, Iranian news agencies reported.
The craft, dubbed the Bavar 2, is armed with a machine gun and carries surveillance cameras, according to a report from the Iranian Student News Agency.
"Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the few countries which managed to design, build and use flying boats in a short time," said Defense Minister Brig. Gen. Ahmad Vahidi, who oversaw the delivering of the aircraft at the Bandar Abbas naval facility on the Persian Gulf near the Strait of Hormuz.
The delivery comes as Iran celebrates its Week of Sacred Defense, which commemorates its eight-year-long resistance to the 1980 Iraqi invasion, according to the Fars News Agency.
The flying boats look like one Iran used during Persian Gulf war games in April 2006. Media reports from the time include a video of a flying boat taking off.
After those 2006 reports, bloggers poked fun at Iran’s so-called stealth technology, saying the flying boat looked like something anyone could buy in kit form from mechanical magazine ads.
hahahahahahahahahaha!!!! Who says the Iranians have no sense of humor.........imagine how deadly this craft could be. All our sailors would die laughing if they saw a squadron of these amphibious lawn mowers flying in ther direction.
lets show them what our stealth bombers can do 🙂
Are you kidding? My kids and I rode one of those at Disneyland this summer – they're great fun!!
I wonder if they can delivery pizza with those things......

picture this after the two day long war...flying boats become sinking planes
OK, we'll make it fair for you Iran.
Your slow plane against our slowest jet...
the A-10, aka "Warthog".
I'd say its a pretty fair fight (high levels of sarcasm added)...
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps are not interested in what the world thinks. They are interested in what the average Iranian thinks. This is propaganda in its purest form. Incredibly cheap and easy to build experimental airplane that looks scary. The uneducated rural Iranians that voted for Ahmadinejad very is impressed. Everyone else knows better.
Same type of BS the North Koreans pull on their poor people to keep them in line.
And this is worthy of being in the notional news How?
This will certainly give them the ability to disrupt Tanker and Cargo ship traffic in the Straits of Hormuz.
That's awesome! I like Iran more and more each day, for real.
If the Iranian people were free to apply their ingenuity, they would have a flying carpet now. Instead the government has less interesting uses of their people's time.
COBRAAAAAAAAAAAAA
So. . . . Iran has pontoon technology. . . . haven't we had that almost as long as we have had planes?
People please... seaplanes (or "flying boats", or "floating airplanes") were first invented in France in 1910... that was exactly a century ago! Now, add a little machine gun and you got yourself the same exact same thing.
I really, really wanna be there when these little tin cans launch an offensive against Israel or the US who will vaporize these little kid-toys from their F-16s.
