Suspected University of Texas-Austin gunman dead

A suspected gunman fired shots inside a library at the University of Texas at Austin on Tuesday morning before shooting himself, university spokeswoman Rhonda Weldon told CNN.

The gunman died, Weldon said. No one else was hurt.

On its Facebook page, the university police said they were searching for a possible second suspect.

Weldon said it was not known whether that second suspect was armed.

Students and others on campus were advised to remain indoors with their doors locked.

I will say that is a terrible thing to happen at one of our schools, however you should be more supportive of the local law enforcement and let them take care of the university than who reported it to the news first. Who cares if its not a "breaking story". I think some people have lost sight of the big picture, everyones safety first and then the news.

Why are people so upset that cnn ran this two hrs after the fact? People come on, it was yet another school shooting and kind of a boring story. CNN cannot be everywhere at once so stop complaining. And by the way, wishes go out to student out there from my unit out here, now u know what it's like to hear gunshots with your name on them. 🙂

I've always supported right to arm but I'm thinking now that access to guns is really the problem and the way to reduce access is to stop selling handguns that can be concealed. Guns should be huge, fat, neon things so we can tell who is carrying them.

LOL... yeah, and if criminals would just quit being so sneaky! Maybe, if they could announce their intentions first or carry a sign or something, maybe innocent people could get out of the way!? Pssshhh.. are you serious?

Might be about somone getting pushed around to much but I highly dought that. The second suspect could be the instigator. This could also be somone that found out college is a waist of time and money. I always thought if jobs would just hire people that are trustworthy, has a good work ethic instead of hiring based on a degree that they most likely cheated to get. From talks with friends they all cheated at one point to move to the next level. None of them can actually say that college was worth the time and money. Why not spend 3 years training the right person. Then you will know they have been properly traiined for your company.

for all of you keeping up to date. i am a student at UTA and live right across the street. the first suspect shot himself on the sixth floor of the PCL library but there is a second suspected shooter. he has susceptibly changed clothes and is still on the lose. the swat teams are sweeping all the buildings looking for him and all classes have been canceled. thank you to everyone who is thinking about us down here.

FOX lives on fear, I'm sure they will give this campus shooter all the glory they don't deserve. Maybe they will even do a special about it so they can give more disgruntle people with mental defects more ideas.
