Fort Hood: Four soldiers apparently killed themselves

Four soldiers from the Fort Hood Army base in Texas - all decorated veterans from the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan - died in the past week, a Fort Hood spokesman said Wednesday.

In all four cases, it appears the soldiers took their own lives, spokesman Christopher Haug said.

Gee mike, you somehow KNOW and have PROOF these guys were involved in your "sport killing"? Grow a heart and have a little decency and respect for families that have suffered a tragic loss!

      Hmmmm,

Ya'll think there is no more information given because the press was not privvy to all the details at this time???? And if you have been hiding under the covers for the last several years, this is a BIG problem. Last time I heard, there were more Afghanistan Veteran suicides than deaths by WAR. How many more details do you need? These Veterans need more help, and we need to give them help whether they ask for it or not, as most men still believe that showing feelings is a sign of weakness.

@ Mike ... what the hell is wrong with you... you have no facts on what happened here and you are making things up ... not to mention these people's families ... maybe you should lay off the news for awhile ... its getting to you.

Whitney.....you are seeing the tip of the iceberg. Soldiers and Marines going back and forth to combat zones, witnessing death....of friends and foes alike. Some are wounded, then expected to return to combat as if nothing traumatic happened. The human soul can only go so far. We have asked a lot from our military, while we enjoy the comforts of home. A little compassion would not be out of line at a time such as this.

My prayers go out to the families of the dead soldiers....dead heroes....and to the extended family...the US Army. May GOD have mercy on their souls.

to Mike the idiot, you are as stupid as you are insensitive. Only a very very small number of soldiers commit war crimes or go beyond what we expect of them. They are the sons, fathers, uncles, mothers, brothers and other family members of all of us back home. They risk thier lives in a war torn heavily embattled country and then come home to ungrateful hypocrytes like you. You should be ashamed of your words. Why dont you move to Iraq or Afganastan and see how well you get treated over there.

They would be fighting FOR THEIR COUNTRY.

I live in Clarksville, Tennessee and the suicides happening in this area is alarming (Clarksville is near Ft. Campbell, KY). When you look at the 911 call log available online, everyday there are numerous "threatening suicide" calls, and the obituaries continuously have young veterans listed.

I was not surprised regarding the lack of details in this article based upon what is happening in my town. It is very sad.

Our troops are not being allowed to prosecute a war, They are dealing with touchy-feely ROE. No wonder they are sick at heart, watching their friends and brothers killed and maimed, when a well placed VERY BIG bomb would take care of most if not all the terrorists. The taliban, al queda, and afghanies will not play touchy feely when they are ready to rumble. It's time to FIGHT THE DAMN WAR and stop with all the other crap. We could have been in and out in no time, if all the hand wringers would sit down and shut the hell up. Imagine trying to fight the nazi's like tihs! War kills, war is hell, but the time has come to fight the war like we intend to win it.

People like the code pink stinkos should be tried for treason, and they are just for starters.

Clean out the pentagon and put some MEN in there, and let's get-er-done! Otherwise bring the troops home, now.

We would get ahead if our casualties were not up to 52% due to friendly fire. So, what say we get them sober and then shoot?

Please – Post proof of your assertion that 52% is from friendly fire. And I don't mean crazy Ed, or olberdorf.

Big bombs do not need to be nuclear.

Read what Shawn has to say:

      Shawn
All of this is a tragedy. The US government has technology that we have pressed to the point of successful field testing, and it stops. Technology that can destroy the weapon without harming the operator(s). Technology, that if allowed to be fielded around the world, would quickly de-escalate warfare and, bringing our loved ones home and bringing belligerent countries quickly to the table of diplomacy. A technology that, with the speed of light, could render a battlefield teeming with missiles and tanks and artillery to a field of junk machines and weapons leaving the aggressors the choice to fight with sticks and rocks or look to efforts in peace. The technology exists. It works. I'd bet my life, and the lives of my three boys now serving their country, on the ability of this technology. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LThD0FMvTFU I know what it is capable of because I was involved in the design of critical portions of it. I want to see my boys safe and see a world where peace has a chance and the world doesn't have to be afraid of any despot. World peace will never be realized by large demonstrations and big signs. It will be realized when technology is found and developed that obsoletes and dissuades warfare and the beginnings of that technology are at hand, if we choose wisely.

      MIKE;

Your comments are a slap in the face of every Veteran in this country. How DARE you make such inflammatory comments! You take the actions of a few and point your fingers at those who are out there sacrificing their lives? How would you know what these troops go through every day? Did you watch "60 Minutes" the other night or have you EVER spoken to a War Veteran? I'm sure not. You sound like a completely ignorant dirtbag.

What a tragedy; soldiers come home from the war and it is so depressing that they take their own lives? CG Ft Hood, what is happening to your soldiers? Why are they killing themselves? This should prompt an IG investigation from HQDA and the SECDEF!
