Fort Hood: Four soldiers apparently killed themselves

Four soldiers from the Fort Hood Army base in Texas - all decorated veterans from the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan - died in the past week, a Fort Hood spokesman said Wednesday.

In all four cases, it appears the soldiers took their own lives, spokesman Christopher Haug said.

Where is the RAGE?? When are we going to realize that we need to take care of our soldiers during and after duty? They give up everything and giving them nothing (help). Lets get out of these ridiculous wars and only have Americans dying on American Ground, defending AMERICA! The rest of the world can go to hell!

    General,

You need to call a World Wide Safety Stand down now and cut the BS. There is a huge difference in the mentality of special ops personnel and basic infantry personnel who goe from High School into a combat zone in a few short months...Soldiers should not be deployed prior to at least 3 years of vetting and serious training...By doing this you will reduce the suicide rate down to only a handful...

Whilst they may have been heroes, taking their own lives earns them a 1 way ticket to hell.

    Jesus be praised.

Look at the big funerals they have on TV for celebs and politicians....4 decorated soldiers....I have always had a beef regarding when soldiers die you hear 4 troops were killed....but let a celeb or a politician pass away and you hear about it for days.

Sue – while I appreciate the sentiment, we don't do it for the publicity and most of us would think any such media attention to our deaths would be granstanding BS. But thank you again for your thoughts.

Frank, I wouldn't go to FOX "News" for informational purposes. IF they have ANY information, it is likely their OPINION of what MAY HAVE happened, based on what they MIGHT have HEARD, from a friend of a friend of a soldiers wife...
Not saying that everything that comes through is false, just very misleading. Most of what FOX reports is purely speculation. Calling it "NEWS" is far from reality.

Jcthinker: i know that there are SOME soldiers that do horrible things, but please don't judge them all based on a few incidents. There are a lot of soldiers that have been over there multiple times and have sufferred more than most people can understand. driving down the street becomes a possible life threatening situation. that fear is not something that just "goes away" when they come home. they don't report on half the crap that goes on over there. they're too busy reporting on stupid bs. even if you don't support the cause, you should support the troops that spend all that time away from family and friends and risk their lives. even if it doesn't seem like they're "defending your freedom" in these conflicts, that is what soldiers, marines, airmen, and sailors sign up to do if the need arises. they have our backs, and instead of complaining, we should have theirs too

To all of you knocking CNN about the report, remember it is coming from the Army. You know how they like to spin stories. They are working on it right now.

Well I suppose its better they kill themselves, than go to afghanistan and iraq as INVADERS and kill innocent people there. Guilt will come back and haunt you eventually. I can only imagine the horrific possibilities these soldiers may have committed

Yeah I guess you forgot about the original invaders who flew some planes into a few buildings killing thousands. No I didn't agree with Iraq but I do agree with Afghanistan. And yes I am a vet so unless you've been there and experienced that you've no room to speak.

      hey mick,

They protect our country and our trying to promote peace in a region that hasn't known it for 25 years. If you are against the war for political reasons, at least have the respect and decency to keep you mouth shut when it comes to our troops. GFYS

lol, those guys who flew planes into buildings were not Afghans, they were not Taliban, and Taliban didn't even know about that. So quit blending everything together. What peace did USA bring to Iraq and Afghanistan? everyone agrees that the Taliban were at least successful at providing security, and there were moderate movements within it that wanted to gain grounds but were ignored by us. Sorry, but invading Afghanistan was not the way. And we are bringing peace to Afghanistan in order to spread Democracy for the same reasons Russia wanted to export communism. Its all economic. Give it a few decades and Afghan culture will be trashed and westernized and just like Uzbekistan. Kabul will be like Bangkok or Jakarta or Tashkent. Sorry, i don't support this. America should keep its so called "values" out of Afghanistan and quit trying to make it become a certain way. And yes I have been to Iraq and Afghanistan, so I guess I can talk, can't I?

Mick, you sound like a gutless coward who has a lot of nerve to critize those that go in harms way for you. You really aught to consider offing yourself.

and sorry, but if i am against a war for political and other reasons, then i am against the troops. The "support our troops" slogan is the most baseless crap ever made. Basically it means "Blame the politicians when the soldiers pull the triggers." Its a mental disconnection from the soldiers to the politicians. Sorry, but the soldiers do care what we think of them, the politicians clearly don't. So if theres anyone to protest to, its soldiers, and if i have to call them "baby killers" i will. A country sustains war with that whole "support our troops" crap, and its our job to break it if we don't agree with the war. Step out of the box: SOLDIERS ARE RESPONSIBLE JUST AS MUCH AS POLITICIANS.

Mick- We do our jobs. We don't go overseas to kill people. You have no idea what you are talking about. I'm pretty sure if you had someone running at you with an AK or a bomb strapped to their chests, you would shoot them in order to preserve your own life and that of the man standing next to you. Don't disrespect us because of our job and our devotion to our country. While you may not agree with the places we go and what we do, we are people, too. We deserve respect and not to be ridiculed. Find something else to spout your garbage mouth about. These men's families have suffered a great loss.
