Student's apparent suicide linked to webcast of sexual encounter

A Rutgers University student who apparently committed suicide was the unknowing target of an internet broadcast showing him in a sexual encounter, New Jersey authorities said Wednesday.

Two other Rutgers students have been charged with invasion of privacy after they allegedly placed a camera in 18-year-old Tyler Clementi's dorm room without his knowledge and then broadcast lementi's sexual enounter, according to the Middlesex County prosecutor's office.

"If the charges are true, these actions gravely violate the university's standards of decency and humanity," Rutgers President Richard L. McCormick said in a statement Wednesday.

once in a while, there are just bad seeds. it might not be the parents fault. sometimes you can do everything in your childs best interest and 1 out of 4 will be bad anyway.

tomcat, what do you mean by this, so for you, doing wrong thing was OK, but if someone showed what you were doing is not OK ? I think they are same.
I would have serious problem with this if these stupid college kids have broadcasted a video of a married couple of something of that nature. to me, both are wrong. One kid murdered the humanity .. while other 2 did same for a human.

tomcat you can be 100 percent involved in your childs life from birth on and sometimes there is just a bad seed. 1 of 4 children raised the exact same could just make bad decisions that doesnt have anything to do with thier upbringing.

They put a camera in his room...just like watching him without telling him, this happens all the time in college except now he has taken his life, its very tragic but to blame it all on the kids without knowing what this guy was going through is a bit of a rush to judgement

if he was ashamed of being gay.....shouldn't have been messing around with another dude....i have absolutely no respect for people who kill themselves....its a selfish act to one is to blame for his actions but himself.

If someone illegally watching leads to suicide, we would all be dead.

What they did was wrong in many ways. As a nation we need to grow up and let people live their lives.
