North Korea unveils rare photo of Kim Jong Il's son

Kim Jong Un, bottom left, and his father, bottom right center, are seen with the rest of the Workers Party of Korea's central military commission.

North Korea's state news agency has released the first photo of Kim Jong Il's youngest son since he was named vice chairman of the Workers Party of Korea's central military commission.

Little is known about Kim Jong Un. Only two photos of him consistently circulate in news reports outside of North Korea because he's been kept off the radar by the North.

Kim Jong Un, who is widely expected to be the successor to North Korea's "Dear Leader," was also named to the Central Committee of the party. Earlier, during the WPK  conference, the younger Kim became a four-star general, according to the state-run Korean Central News Agency.

This photo was taken with the entire body and new leaders of the WPK at Kumsusan Memorial Palace, Pyongyang reported.

The Workers Party of Korea last convened its delegates more than four decades ago.

I think it's a stretch to call NK a communist state– it's more of a monarchy. In a communist state (a real one, not hypothetical), power transitions are based on marit– in the sense of party loyalty and the ability to effectively promote oneself to the chairmanship. In this case, leadership appears to be hereditary. Just sayin'.

Inherited DNA can drive you nuts, especially with Kim Jong Il's stubby fingers:

Un: Dad! I can't get the lid off this peanut butter jar!!! It must be a capitalist plot.
    Il: Probably.

Hmmm this should be interesting. Since Kim Jong il's father was atleast wise enough to know how to use the power had had. And son being too stupid. An example can be when he threatened south Korea and the rest of the world that they would start war. I am hopeing that his son isn't blinded by stupidity just like his father and his followers where.

    @RJS
although you have a point, the period you are talking about in America's history and the plans implemented during that time were incredibly wasteful and shortsighted. the only reason we started consuming so much during that time was to boost our economy after WW2 and although it worked in the short term, America's reputation for consumerism and wastefulness have destroyed our dignity in the world.

I say America should have a garage sale for Peace. Let's get all the clothes we can't wear but won't donate, old electronics (I have an 8 Track player and a Barry Manalow track), cans of meat by-products, toilet paper rolls along with all that crap in the garage that keeps you from actually parking in it and bomb them up to the 20th Century. When Kim-She picks up a tooth brush from America with love, they'll kick these perverts out of power.

    yes socialism really sucks

    With crappy healthcare system

That is why canada is ranked as the nation number 7 when it comes to life expectancy, and also other countries like sweden where I live is ranked 9th while the United States is up there on the 50th place below nations like Cuba, puerto rico, jordan , bosnia and others

Hopefully Kim jr. wont be off the wall like Kim senior.
Hopefully jr. will learn that communisim isn't right for this failing country. Im Korean American, and its sad to see these two countries being seperated. Sad to see that after the Korean War some people wont see there families ever again. I just want peace in these two countries and want them to be ONE again. ONE LOVE! <3

kim jr. needs to realize whats best for the country rather than the privelaged who are born into it, like himself for instance.
