Armed gang abducts busload of tourists in Mexico

A policeman stands guard in street where Mexican tourists were kidnapped Thursday.

Gunmen have abducted a busload of tourists in Acapulco, Mexico, a spokesman for the Guerrero State attorney general's office told CNN on
Saturday.

The 22 people were captured by an armed gang Friday night. All those aboard the bus were Mexican nationals from the neighboring state of Michoacan.

it is interesting to read that poeple think that the only way the the us can help other countries is by sending soldiers. what about controling the use or drugs inside the us and preventing the ilegal trade of arms into mexico. that would do a gteat deal at curving the violence seen in mexico lately.

This is not a U.S.issue. Although sad and I feel for the victims, it is not our business. Mexican authorities are capable of handling this situation.

The idiots on here who blame Pelosi/Reid really need to stop and think. Did Reagan do anything about illegals? How about Bush senior? Or how about George W.? This is not Pelosi/Reid's creation. This is something that has been allowed to go on for far to long by us, the voters. Both parties will continue to thumb their noses at us as long as we keep taking it. Damn it, don't tell me to "vote Republican because they'll fix this immigration problem!" You know it's a lie. We have to find the guys that will no matter which party and get them to stand by their words. When McCain flip flopped on it during his campaign didn't that make you sick? Or you just ignored it because he's one of your boys? Shut up and vote the right way. Look at something other than Dem/Rep.

I don't understand why we don't have our military locking down our border. The DMZ seems safer than the U.S.-Mexican border.

YOU WANT TO KNOW THE REASON WHY AMERICA NEEDS TO BE INVOLVED WITH THE SECURITY OF MEXICO?
Mexico is our Alli, our friends and we share common ground at our borders. Her people love America and it is but a few thousand harsh criminals who desire to upset the peace between us, because their agenda is distribution of drugs and the lust for money. THEY ARE THE NEW al-Qa'ida, out taliban and they will grow into this gigantic army of thieves and murderers if they are not stopped. They will come across and infiltrate our borders and our cities throughout America if we do nothing to help Mexico and her people. You may not see it from your living room window in Nebraska tonight, but in less than 10 years there will not be a safe street anywhere in our country if we don't protect Mexico, because these gangs, these drugged up money-hungry thugs will come for your sons and daughters and no amount of guns you own will protect you. The corruption which has taken place in the military and police of Afghanistan and Iraq and now Mexico is just a sample of things to come. So there is no time to hesitate. Bring on the US Marines, round up the bad guys and then let;s move on to other more important things like Global Warming.

  9. Heads up...

    http://www.guatemala-times.com/opinion/news-analysis/1666-the-nature-of-the-us-mexico-drug-war-equal-responsibility-unequal-costs.html
Look at the above article...the U.S. has already committed about "$57 million from 2000 through 2006 to $400 million for fiscal year 2008." Now, in 2010, the government has pledged $450 million"...so we are already in the hole. And if you do some research, CA has a deficit of ~$21 billion, and last year, immigrants (both legal and illegal) sent $20 billion back home to Mexico. CA's school system, health care system, prisons, police force, etc., have been completely overwhelmed, and essentially gutted. Other states are going to follow. Like it or not.
If someone wants to improve their lot in life, and they feel that they can do better in the U. S., then there is a legal way to go about doing this. It is not fair to the immigrants who go through the proper channels to become U.S. citizens, taking up to two or three years to get their families here, if we turn around and make all illegals citizens. There is a reason why we have laws in place. The burden of illegals is playing a part in gutting our economy.
Before attacking, please note that I said "playing a part"...

I know some are calling this a "Mexican Problem" but it's the US demand for drugs that we choose to criminalize that underlies most of this. When former Mexican President Fox suggested that drugs should be legalized, he wasn't being a bleeding-heart liberal, he was making a suggestion that anyone who was studied history, including US history, knows would solve the problem and save thousands of innocent Mexicans caught in the crossfire.

Just to clarify, when you mention the legalization of drugs, you're referring to pot, I assume – which I believe should be legalized, or at the very least, decriminalized. The other stuff,...........welllll

thats true, california and texas used to belong to mexico...as hilllary clinton is pushing israel to give land back to the palestineans so in turn, with out hypocrisy, american then needs to give those lands back to mexico. of course it wont happen but i am trying to make a point- israel won those lands in wars and when the UN divided the land up. how does it feel when you tell someone to give back their land?

I'm just glad there is no violence in the US. Cities like Detroit and Chicago just continue to impress everyone with their lack of violence, drug free zones and a sharp decline in gun problems. The only reason you even here about Mexico and any problems they have, is because the American Tourism Boards want you to spend your money in the US. Tourism has even tried to get people to stop going to Canada and spend money there. Get your heads out of your asses, and think for yourself for a change. I know it is almost impossible for the working class american to save enough money to actually travel anywhere else, to see things first hand, but until you do, don't just believe the BS that CNN chooses to report.

Think Mexico is so safe? Check out this website: http://bit.ly/bOuKWk As a bonus for some very hard work, my husband and his co-workers received a Caribbean cruise. One of the ports of call is Cozumel, Mexico. I was looking at some of the shore excursions, but I'm thinking twice about it. Common to all of those stories are corruption and incompetence.

Cozumel is beautiful!! i live in México and i keep traveling in it. Don't think it that much, go and enjoy your stay. I say it not because i want tourist, but because i like people from other part of the world admire the beauty that is México. I realy doubt that something bad happen for visiting a shore.
