Police probe threats against NY Islamic center backers

The husband-and-wife team behind the planned Islamic center and mosque near New York's ground zero have received threats, a New York police spokesman said Sunday, hours after the wife said her life is under threat.

The threats "began several weeks ago," police spokesman Paul Browne told CNN "We were investigating them."

Browne would disclose no details of the threats made against Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf or his wife, Daisy Khan, or whether they were receiving any police protection.

most people are worried about the "Islam Community Center" being built two blocks away from Ground Zero. I personally have no problem with it. The only part i do not agree with is the fact that the Islam developers won't agree to just move it. You have to look at it like this when the American Military bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki in WWII, we didn't go back and build a Christian Church right smack dab in the middle of the cities. Everyone needs to realize that the problem isn't the building itself but rather the fact that the Islamic people won't come to terms with the Christian people and the Conservatives to see about getting a compromise. Instead the Islamic people want to be a pain in the rear and cause all of this commotion when it doesn't need to be started. Now personally I take the building of anything near Ground Zero is a slap in the face. The only thing that should be near Ground Zero is Freedom Tower when it finally goes into development. Besides Everyone needs to realize that all of the Islamic People pushing for the "Religious Center" are not Birth Civilians. Every single one of them took the citizenship test. Now i have no problem with that but my 8 year old son can take that test and pass it. So who are they to tell the American People by birth what they can and cannot say. Everyone that is for this building should take a look at their own history. This country was founded on Christian beliefs not anything else. This Country was meant to be brought up as a Republic. Where the people run the country not some fat senator from wherever. But no the U.S.A. we all know now is too afraid of hurting anybodies feelings. Well i stand for what i believe in and nobody is going to take that away from me.
