Search to resume for missing N.C. girl; stepmom in court

After a brief break, authorities planned to resume searching Wednesday for a 10-year-old North Carolina girl as her stepmother appeared in court on an obstruction of justice charge related to the case.

Zahra Clare Baker was reported missing over the weekend, but authorities believe she could have disappeared a month ago.

The search lasted until about 3 a.m. Wednesday, according to CNN affiliate WSOC, and authorities plan to continue searching the same area after taking a break for a few hours.

This case is going to be difficult to resolve. I think the father knew his daughter was murdered. How could he not? If the police are saying no one outside the house has seen her in a month (meaning she could have been murdered in that time period), well her father was there and he didn't call the police in the last month.
Unless he was away. But no one has said that.

Why would that silly woman write that ransom note? Because she knew the girl was missing & she was the one who started the fire.

this is insane....the stepmother and the father both have ALOT of explaining to do. how could they hurt this innocent child like this. who has the consious of doing this to a child, especially their own. i live in hickory and i would have never thought i would be hearing of a case as this. but i guess anyone is capable of such crimes. we are all, as a state, in disbelief and praying for this little girl.

talking trash. Living up to your name are you? I highly recommend you recheck your facts.
The truth is I posted before you. You interpreted what I wrote and are now acting as if you are the sole super sleuth here when you just agreed with me without writing it.

To clarify, I refer to several days ago when the story first broke and everyone was writing sympathy posts toward the father and the stepmother. At the time, I wrote "something doesn't add up" at the beginning and end of my comment.
I now realize talking trash has posted after me again.jim

Having thought about the case, it's obvious the hearing aids were left by her stepmother and more likely involved than not involved father. Now that means her leg missing does not mean she walked out of the bedroom. I believe she was sleeping and a pillow was used to suffocate her.
The question is are these two suspects intelligent (I use that term very lightly because no one lives forever and God punishes murderers because it took a very long time to create living reproducing soul receiving/holding/carrying machines) enough to place her body someplace they have never been before.
I don't know. The stepmother wrote a phonie ransom note. Why did she write one? Who or what event put pressure on her causing her to do so? Was it the father or people asking, Where's Zahra Clare? How much does the stepmother love the father? And vice versa.
The answers to these questions tell where the little girl's body is.
