Controversial pastor gets free car for not burning Quran

The Rev. Terry Jones, the Florida pastor who caused a firestorm last month when he came close to staging a public Quran burning, is getting a new car courtesy of a New Jersey dealership.

In the run-up to the planned book-burning, Brad Benson Hyundai in New Brunswick offered Jones a vehicle if the pastor backed down on his threat.

“We heard on the news that he was going to burn the Quran," Benson Hyundai general manager David Canton told CNN on Saturday.

After condemnations from around the world, Jones called off the burning.

A representative from Jones' church, Dove World Outreach Center, called Benson Hyundai recently to see whether the offer was still good, Canton said.

It was. Jones is getting a 2011 Hyundai Accent, valued at around $13,600.

"He stood up to his end of the bargain and we’re standing up to ours,” Canton said.

A woman who answered the phone Saturday at Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida, said Jones would donate the car to a Muslim charity.

Yeah, when my dog was a puppy we had to reward her for not peeing on the rug, not chewing up our shoes, not biting our fingers, etc. Sometimes the less intelligent critters need positive reinforcement for the most basic of responsibilities.

That's what most of the rest of the Word thinks. And the same about our military adventures in Vietnam, Grenada, Iraq, our support for Ethnic Cleansing by Israel, our mass over-consumption of gasoline, SUV's, fatty ground beef, GM Corn and Pot and Cocaine, and last but not least, our trust of outrageously lying Church Mouthpieces and Politicians and Wall Street.

Sad and pathetic and a betrayal to whatever this man really pray to. If he is serious about giving the car away, why does he not just have the dealer give it away directly? I have come to the conclusion that many of these so called Christians are really no different from the people they condemn and fight. The Talibans are ready to wage war and kill innocent people , so are they. The God that I pray to constantly reminds me to treat others like I would want to be treated. I don't want anyone to drop a bomb from 26000 feet that kills my daughter and so I would not want to drop such a bomb either. I would not want anyone to nuke my country and so I would not want my country to own nuclear weapons. I love what Jesus has to say about forgiveness and love hence I love Jesus.

He should donate the car to a charity that promotes real knowledge and understanding among religions, political groups and parties.

It's disgusting the dealer felt compelled to bribe Jones into doing what was right. What, it's not enough Jones is conning money out of that group of marks called his congregation? Religion gets rewarded no matter how nasty it gets. This cycle of pandering to god hustlers has to stop.

Indeed ! First intelligent thing i read in here. Ignorance is the real problem here. If people learned enough to know how the brain works, they would see that the old mistake of believing in a magical soul made of immaterial magic to explain consciousness is no longer needed. Since all religions are based on this mistake, they would all cease to exist, and there would not be anymore Religion Hate and hypocrisy. No more réincarnation idioties, hell or paradise, angels or demons to get all crazed up about, no more exorcisms and other utter mad stuff. Think of all the WASTE ! All those morons going about churches and hurting people for their beliefs. They say they help but they clearly hurt a lot more, indeed they pack a wallop in terms of Major Hurting others. Excuse my english, its my second language BTW. Just imagine a world without religious nonsense. Check it out ! Remove the belief of the Soul from humanity, now that we know it is no longer needed to explain the ancient mystery of the thinking process. No more magical idioties. wow.

That should make him a Socialist Welfare Recipient. I hope the Tea Party is going to rally there in protest.
