Controversial pastor gets free car for not burning Quran

The Rev. Terry Jones, the Florida pastor who caused a firestorm last month when he came close to staging a public Quran burning, is getting a new car courtesy of a New Jersey dealership.

In the run-up to the planned book-burning, Brad Benson Hyundai in New Brunswick offered Jones a vehicle if the pastor backed down on his threat.

“We heard on the news that he was going to burn the Quran," Benson Hyundai general manager David Canton told CNN on Saturday.

After condemnations from around the world, Jones called off the burning.

A representative from Jones' church, Dove World Outreach Center, called Benson Hyundai recently to see whether the offer was still good, Canton said.

It was. Jones is getting a 2011 Hyundai Accent, valued at around $13,600.

"He stood up to his end of the bargain and we’re standing up to ours,” Canton said.

A woman who answered the phone Saturday at Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida, said Jones would donate the car to a Muslim charity.

It only proves the truth of the statement that you can't fight hate with hate, and if you want to correct a person, you would get better results with honey than with vinegar.

Burning a Koran is no different than burning a flag IMO. He's a crazy nutter but the people telling him not to burn the Koran are pathetic cowards.

I can't believe this turkey got a car for not burning the Quran. Hard the figure out who has the lower IQ, this 'preacher' or the Hyundai dealer who donated the car.

Maybe I can get a boat for not incinerating some other holy book.

I think we should have a Burn The Quran day, actually it would help to throw the bible in there as well.
It was religion that originally made this present day society of non natural living.
Banks and religions, the root of all evil. I don't want a car, I want our life back

Brad Benson Hyundai : and the reason for rewarding Jones' caustic & hateful behavior would be? (besides self-promotional advertising in a bad car-sales environment, I mean....)

Even though Pastor Jones did not burn the Koran, this dramatic ploy caused an uproar from the American government and showed the American people how they would react to a national crisis involving the muslims. To sum it up, our government is scared of the muslims.

I’m so relieved to hear we’re now rewarding stupidity, intolerance and hate. What next? Is Jones going to be signed to headline a new reality TV show on Fox?
