Controversial pastor gets free car for not burning Quran

The Rev. Terry Jones, the Florida pastor who caused a firestorm last month when he came close to staging a public Quran burning, is getting a new car courtesy of a New Jersey dealership.

In the run-up to the planned book-burning, Brad Benson Hyundai in New Brunswick offered Jones a vehicle if the pastor backed down on his threat.

“We heard on the news that he was going to burn the Quran," Benson Hyundai general manager David Canton told CNN on Saturday.

After condemnations from around the world, Jones called off the burning.

A representative from Jones' church, Dove World Outreach Center, called Benson Hyundai recently to see whether the offer was still good, Canton said.

It was. Jones is getting a 2011 Hyundai Accent, valued at around $13,600.

"He stood up to his end of the bargain and we’re standing up to ours,” Canton said.

A woman who answered the phone Saturday at Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida, said Jones would donate the car to a Muslim charity.

" Jones would donate the car to a Muslim charity."

I wonder if he packed it with explosives before he donated it?

How about we burn all the useless out dated rubbish filled Religious texts and then start burning the Religious nut cases as well. The World will flourish when these cults are abolished. Religion, screwing things up since day #1.

I'm semi religious, getting less so all the time, don't need a church, just act in a good way and treat people well. All of these pastors making millions fleecing their flocks make me sick. I agree with you.

"The Rev. Terry Jones, the Florida pastor who caused a firestorm last month when he came close to staging a public Quran burning, is getting a new car courtesy of a New Jersey "

    The line should read:

"The Rev. Terry Jones, the Florida pastor who made an a$$ of himself last month when he came close to staging a public Quran burning, is getting a new car courtesy of a New Jersey "

The church called the dealership to ask if the deal was still good??!! The church called??!! I have serious doubts about the ethics and morals of this so-called "Christian church". Gives all Christians a bad name.

People, there are many Religions today that do really bad things. There is a promise in the Bible though, ..that ALL false Religion that have done and do bad things, will soon come to their End. the Bible promises this! In Revelation chapter 18. (Last book of the Bible).
It is very interesting! please Read if you have a bible. when Jesus was on earth, he mentioned that by their fruits (Works), you will recognize them (False religion). He said a rotten tree cannot produce fine fruits. Likewise every good tree produces fine fruit. The problem lies with FALSE Religion. Revelation chapter 18:5 tells us that the sins of Professed christians or False Religions have " Massed together in heaven, and God will call her (False Religion) Acts to mind. So dear all who are disgusted because of the bad things that Religions practice today, Take heart! The True God will judge them soon. i wish you all well.

CNN...I hate you sometimes. Do you realize that if the desperate 24 hour news cycle just ignored this crazy extremist, he would have just given the stunt up and it would never have been a controversy outside of the small local town in Florida? STOP GIVING WACKO EXTREMISTS A VOICE! THAT'S WHAT FOX NEWS IS FOR!

For all of the Christian biggots, Faux News neocons with no brains, let me remind you...Timmothy McVeigh was not a muslim, but sure was a terrorist. Do you see the world's religions calling for the extermination the Christianity? hell your bible is nothing more then a pasted together work of what the Catholics thought would be a good idea in the dark ages by putting together the socalled experts to calm down the uprisings. There are 100x more books and related issues that are NOT included in the traditional "good book" Here in tennessee, there is a church, pawn shop, and used car buy here pay here lot on about every corner (hell the entire south for that matter) and they all have the same interests in mind.....tell you whatever they have to, to get their hands into your pockets and wallets.
