UN: Cholera cases in Haiti's capital are a 'worrying development'

The confirmation of five cholera cases in Haiti's capital is a "very worrying development," a U.N. spokeswoman told CNN.

Public health officials are working to keep the country's cholera outbreak from spreading in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where tens of thousands of people are still living in sprawling tent cities after January's devastating 7.0-magnitude earthquake.

The fast-moving outbreak has claimed at least 253 lives on the impoverished island nation, and another 3,015 cases have been reported, according to Haiti's health ministry.

The U.N. and the rest of the world have been helping Haiti "big time" for decades. It's half of a small island, WTH. Obviously the U.N. is useless and all the money in the world won't fix the mess. Maybe it's time for the people of Haiti to stand up and control their own destiny for a change, instead of waiting for someone else to do it. Have a great day!

I will do none of the above. If they can't help themselves, they are hopelessly lost. Cholera is spread by poor hygiene. praying won't make it go away. These people don't take care of themselves. so they live in tents, well when I was in the army, I lived in a rent with 13 men for 9 months but took care of myself.

what a way to go crapping your self to death, why would you not take some sort of precautionary measures( boil your toilet water before you drink it) when you see others sickened/ dying. You simply cant pray for microbiology to change
